Since spending those four days fucking each other’s brains out, he’s come to the realisation that Ruby needs to be his. He’s going to make it happen. The chase is on. Properly now.
“Ruby Bloom,” West says, then takes a big bite of cake.
Ash spits out his beer. “What the fuck!”
“Ash!” Layla warns. He glances towards the children. “Sorry.” he smiles sheepishly at Darlia, then directs an angry glare at his friend. “Are you kidding me?”
West licks cream off his thumb, examining it closely. “Nope.”
“How is that even possible?” Ash continues, “those girls fucking hate us. I mean, that stunt at the awards. The stuff they say about us in interviews. They’re a bunch of brats.”
“There’s a very fine line between love and hate,” Darlia observes.
Ash leans forward and points at West. “Is she fucking with you? Is this a way to take us down?”
West chuckles. “How, man?”
But Ash stares at him. “You think she won’t sell her story to the papers, tell everyone what a dark twisted Alpha you really are, just to destroy our band?”
West stares straight back at his friend. “The Omega has more to lose than me. Her lead singer is even more of a head case than Hunter. Ruby seems to believe she’ll get kicked out of her band if the other girls find out about us.”
“You confident I’m not going to kick you out of our band for this, Asshole?” Ash growls.
West straightens in his chair. “I’d like to see you try.”
“Children,” Darlia warns, addressing West and Ash not the children chasing about in the yard.
“Whyis she dating an asshole like you then if she’s worried they’ll kick her out?”
“We’re twisted fuck buddies. We’re not dating … yet.”
“Wait, fuck buddies? For how long?” Ash glares at him as if daring him to even consider lying.
He may as well come clean. He’s spilled the beans now which is going to land him in a whole heap of shit with Ruby.
“Long enough.”
“The festival?”
He grins.
“Fuck me, Kim was right for once,” Ash says.
Layla shuffles forward on her chair. “You want to date this girl even though she says all that nasty stuff about the band?”
He shrugs, taking another bite of cake and letting the icing dissolve against his tongue. Yeah, he was pissed off by that bratty behaviour at the award show but perhaps her band has a reason to be mad at them — that video, that song. And anyway it seems like Natasha has the issue, not Ruby. The Omega is just playing along.
“I think you’re playing with fire,” Ash says, considering him. The look on his face advertises clearly that he thinks this is a bad idea.
“Aren’t we always playing with fire?” West meets his friend’s gaze. “All we have could go up in smoke any minute. That’s not going to stop me having fun while I can.”
“It’s your cock and your life, man.” Ash throws his hands up in the air and sinks back into his chair. “I’ve always said, I’ve got no beef with those girls. It’s them that hate us.”
“So, what?” West’s sister says. “You’re going public about this now?”
“Fuck knows. I didn’t exactly plan to tell you all. I’m going to be in the shithouse for this.” West swings his gaze to each one of them, Darlia, Karl, Ash and Layla. “You can’t tell the others. Understand?”
“We can keep a secret,” Darlia says, zipping up her lips.
