“Hmmm,” he says, twerking an eyebrow.
“I’d forgotten she was an Omega too,” Layla muses. “She came out about it a few months ago, didn’t she? Did an interview with a magazine.”
Darlia knocks her foot against West’s again. “I want to meet her. Bring her around or something.”
“Nope, I’ve been chasing this girl for fucking months. I’m not having you scare her off.”
Ash’s mouth drops open. “Chasing her?”
West shrugs. “She’s jumpy. And her band hates us. It’s taken me this long to get her to go on a date with me.”
“Wow,” Darlia says under her breath.
“What?” West says.
“I’ve never known a girl to hold your interest for longer than a week, let alone months.”
He grins at his friends and family. “I’ve always liked the chase. Usually girls let me catch them far too easily.” He balls his napkin in his fist and tosses it towards the trash can. “But not this one.”
Chapter 14
On Thursday, Ruby stops by Alison’s office with Natasha and Tanya to run through the schedule for the next few days. It’s enough to make her eyes cross, especially since she feels so exhausted after the four days of fucking. She yawns now as Ryan hands them out colour-coded schedules.
“I emailed these to you all as well, but I thought you might like these pretty print outs,” he says, passing the neatly stapled sheets around.
Tanya fiddles with the bandage covering the tattoo she had done to mark the recent award win. “Can’t you just escort us around like you always do? Make sure we’re in the right place at the right time?”
“Of course, but I wanted you to have these too.”
“Thanks Ryan,” Natasha says, blowing him a kiss, and Tanya a scowl. She holds up the page to show Tanya. “Look how pretty he made it?”
“You’re a darling, Ryan,” Tanya says, blowing him a kiss too. He catches it in the air and presses it to his heart, feigning a swoon.
“I need more than air kisses, ladies, after all the fan mail and correspondence I’ve been wading through the last few days. You’ve gained yourselves about a dozen more crazies since the award show. Especially you, Ruby. Seems that dress short wired quite a few people’s brains.”
“Great! Should I be worried?”
“Nah, I charm all the crazies off their feet and send them goodies if I need to.”
“Isn’t that encouraging them?” Nat asks, with a crease to her brow.
“Trust me, babe,” Ryan says, “I’m a professional.”
Alison nods. “He’s definitely got a knack for it. But on a more serious note, we do need to up your security, ladies.” Tanya groans but Alison ignores her. “I’m not saying I’m especially worried or anything, but you’re becoming more well known and it would be amiss of me not to give this consideration. I’m getting a firm to come and take a look at your houses and you need to give more thought to where you’re going and when. We might need to up the hours of your protection staff, think about taking them with you more often.”
“Jeez, that does sound serious,” Ruby mutters.
“You need to be conscious of it. Not just from a safety point of view, but a practical one too. Grant and co can keep people from bothering you when you’re out and about.”
“That would be good.” Nat sighs. “I got mobbed getting a coffee yesterday.”
Alison smiles widely at her. “Natasha, sweetie, you’ve made the big time now. You don’t need to get your own coffee. We’ve got people to do that for you. Ryan, for instance.”
Ryan gives a little salute. “Anytime, gorgeous.”
“So anyway,” Alison continues, “are you happy with the schedule? Any questions?” They all shake their heads. “Fiona will be round yours later, Natasha, to talk outfits … let me see … about 3pm. Don’t forget.” She stares at Tanya.
“I never miss an opportunity to try on clothes, you know that.”
