Last night, I let another alpha watch as my alpha made me come with his mouth. The very thought of it would have been outrageous to me only weeks ago. Now I’m left wondering if I want to take things further.

I fiddle with the charm hanging around my neck. I knew it was dangerous to come back to this house. The scents, the alphas. It’s all too tempting.

After I’ve showered and dressed, I go to meet Sophia for lunch. She’s been bugging me, moaning that she hasn’t seen me, even though we’ve been in lectures together every day.

We meet in town and buy sandwiches before walking out to the park and lying out in the sunshine.

I yawn and stretch on the grass and Sophia rolls her head towards me and grins.

“What?” I ask her.

“Feeling tired, Rosie?”

“Hmmm,” I say noncommittally.

She laughs. “You’ve gone from ‘I don’t want anything to do with relationships’ to being permanently stuck to that boy’s side.”

“It’s the early days. You know what it’s like in the early days.”

Sophia wiggles her eyebrows. “Oh, I know. But you can tell me the details.” She rolls on to her side and tucks her hands under her cheek. “It’s good, right?”

I gaze up at the blue sky and the hazy clouds that skim across the sun. “I like him far too much.”

“That’s good, though, right?”

“I don’t know. It’s all moving so quickly.”

“I’m so pleased for you, Rosie. Even if you have completely abandoned me.”

“I haven’t abandoned you. I’m here now.”

“And where’s the lover boy?”

“On the river training with his pack.”

“That is something I’d like to see. They are all so fine.”

“I’ve only met Duncan.”

“Really? Haven’t you met the rest of his pack yet? Is he trying to keep you to himself?”

“No, it’s nothing like that. He wants me to meet them, but it’s a little intimidating.”

“Oh,” she says, shuffling closer to me. “It’s just that I heard …”

Her gaze flicks over my face.

“What did you hear?”

“That they used to have an omega.”

That doesn’t sound like news to me. We know they invite girls around for sex. “I know, Sophia, did you forget about that invitation?”

“No, not like that. I mean, a pack omega – she was part of the pack. Apparently, she lived with them and everything.”

I turn my head and stare straight at Sophia. “What?”

“She was theirs. All of theirs. They shared her.”
