I lean back down, smothering her in kisses, peppering every inch of her skin in them as I grind in circles. Soon she’s lost in pleasure, lifted away by all the attention I’m bestowing on her beautiful body.

I don’t know if she’ll remember everything when the fever fades. If she’ll remember begging; if she’ll remember my words.

But I have to know.

* * *

Once her feverreaches its peak, it disperses quickly. Her temperature falls, her words become more coherent and she sleeps for five hours straight in my arms, waking later parched and hungry.

I leave the room we’ve been cocooned inside for three days and go in search of food and drink, returning with a food package Kim had delivered to the door as well as a large bottle of water.

She opens the food parcel eagerly, spreading the contents across the ruined bed and excitedly taking a bite of the various cookies and candy bars she finds inside.

I lie on my side on the mattress watching her.

“You aren’t going to eat?” she asks me with a mouth full of chocolate chip cookie.

“After you have, Omega.”

“You must be starving.”

“I’ve had a lot to eat over the last few days.” She frowns in confusion. All we’ve eaten are the bars of chocolate she had stacked up in her room. “You,” I explain, “I’ve been feasting on you.”

“Doesn’t sound very filling.”

“Believe me, it was.”

She smiles.

“I called my brother and my sister,” I tell her.

“You did?”

“Yeah, I’ve been thinking a lot about you the last few days, Isabella. About what you said; about what we did. You were right. My family drifted apart and that was as much my fault as theirs. There was a lot that was right in my childhood – a lot of love between us kids. It’s time to put things right.”

“I’m proud of you,” she watches me, “and I’m glad you came here, Hunter.”

I grab her and pull her towards me, taking a bite of her cookie. “You think I could stay away when I heard you were in heat?”

“Kim?” she asks.

“Yep. Although it took some wrangling so please don’t sue her for divulging personal information.”

My little omega snorts. “I have no interest in getting entangled in a legal battle – especially when she did me a favor.”

“Why didn’t you call me yourself, Isabella? You know I would’ve been here in a heartbeat.”

“No,” she says, meeting my eyes. “I didn’t.”

“What do you mean? I’m crazy about you.”

“Are you?”

“Are you in any doubt after the last three days?” She stares up at me.

“I guess I’m confused. What’s real? What’s fake? This thing between us started in the craziest of ways and I have no clue where reality starts and fantasy ends. Because to be honest, when I’m with you, it feels like some kind of really hot sex dream.”

I laugh and kiss her shoulder. But I know what she’s saying. I’m used to pouring all my feelings into my music. And for the last few days I’ve poured them into caring for Isabella. But sometimes that isn’t enough. I need to say the words too.
