“Jesus fucking Christ.” I slink down beside him.
“What’s wrong, man?”
I shake my head, dragging my finger through my hair. “I’ve never felt this way about a girl.”
“None of us have.”
“Yeah, I know.” Then I shake my head, and chuckle. “But I don’t think I’ve ever felt this impatient to have a woman before, so desperate to knot her, to make her feel good.”
“You didn’t make her feel good the other day?” Hardy says with a smirk.
“I made her feel good,” I say, “but you know, knotting …”
“Yeah,” Hardy says, eyes darting to the cabin doorway.
“And …” I say.
“And?”
“What if she changes her mind? What if it is just the hormones talking? What if it’s a one-time only thing? What if she decides she doesn’t want this pack?”
Hardy’s quiet, he doesn’t have an answer to that, but Angel leans forward on his other side, resting his forearms on his knees.
“We may have a problem when it comes to that.”
“What’s that?” Nate says, his eyes snapping open from where I thought he was dozing on the chair.
Axel glances at his brother too, his brow creasing.
“We may have a problem,” Angel repeats.
“What do you mean?” Axel asks.
“The development,” Angel replies. “I hadn’t … I hadn’t appreciated that it’s practically on the doorstop of her aunt’s condo.”
“Ahhh shit,” Hardy says, scrunching up his eyes.
“Yeah, shit,” Angel says. “She isn’t happy about it. She was ranting and raving at one of the workmen there today.”
“Little bird, loves the beach and the sea,” Nate mutters.
Angel nods.
“Does she know it’s ours?” Axel asks, his face deadly serious.
“No. Not yet.”
“Only a matter of time,” I say.
Angel is right, this isn’t good. Just when we thought things were going our way, that we’d fixed things with Bea, that she might even be considering joining our pack. Now this. This could destroy everything. She’d never forgive us if she found out we were the dudes ripping up her piece of paradise.
“What are we going to do then?” Hardy asks the brothers.
We may not have a head of pack any more, but the two corporations have always been theirs. Axel is the CEO of Rock Developments. Angel, the head of Pack Estates.
It was their dad that taught them how to be the businessmen they are today. Their knowledge, their skills, their success that has brought us to where we are now. Floating out here on a multi-million dollar yacht.
I examine their faces. This development will take us to the next level. Our names will be known countrywide, fuck it worldwide. Everyone will want to do business with us. Doors will open. Opportunities will multiply.
