Angel peers over his shoulder to look at me, then makes a deliberate show of switching on the child locks.

“Motherfucker,” I hiss.

But before I get a chance to find an exit through a broken window, the doors slide open and Connor and Silver barrel inside, Axel jumping into the front passenger seat.

Bullets drum against the back of the van. The omega screams and Angel slams his foot to the floor.

“Who are they?” Hardy says, covering the omega with his body even though the sounds of the bullets are fading. He looks a little too comfortable with her in his arms.

“Don’t know,” Silver says, “they were masked.”

“Their scents?” Hardy asked.

“Masked too,” Silver adds.

“Something fucked up was going down in there,” Axel says from the front. “But I’m not sure what the hell it was.”

“What did they want with–” Angel begins, then jams down his window. “Her scent!”

Her scent.

Juicy. Sweet. So fucking wet.

She moans underneath Hardy’s body and I hook out my knife.

“Get off her, motherfucker.”

He uncurls his arms and the omega scampers out.

Her face is flushed pink like candy floss, her eyes glassy and her thighs sticky with slick.

It’s goddamn pornographic. It’s goddamn enticing.

She peers at my knife and frowns. I flick it away and stuff it in my pocket.

“How are you feeling, sweetheart?” Axel asks from the front seat, twisting his body right around to look at her, heat swimming in his eyes.

She swallows a moan and, her little hands forming fists by her sides, closes her eyes and puffs air out of her mouth.

“Does it hurt?” Connor asks with concern.

“Want me to make it better?” I ask, licking my lips.

She cracks open an eyelid in time to see the sweep of my tongue. She squeals and slams shut her eye.

“I want to go home, please.”

“We’ll take you back to our apartment,” Axel says. “It’s closer.”

“Like hell you will,” Angel growls. “She’s coming with us.”

This again.

I grit my teeth.

“I’m not going with any of you,” the omega says firmly. “I want you to take me back to the beach house.”

“You’re only a day into this heat, baby girl,” Silver says patiently. “You’ve got another two to go at least. You need us to take care of you.”
