“Yep.”
“For the whole time?”
“Yep.”
“With the other two?”
“Yep.”
“What?” Bea asks, her gaze swinging between me and Ava like she’s watching a ping-pong match.
“She shared her heat with all three!” Ava says grinning on my behalf.
“All three? You mean–”
“Mr. Military, Mr. Red Flag and Mr. Racing Car Driver.”
“Holy smoke, Molly Stormgate.”
“There was nothing holy about it,” I say darkly.
“Wow,” Ava says, “that good, huh.”
“About a million times better.”
“Jeez,” Ava says in wonder, then frowns. “But aren’t they lone wolves? I mean, how did that even work?”
I lie back on the bed and say dreamily, “it worked really, really well.”
“I’m so jealous,” Ava mumbles.
I lift my head off the mattress and stare at my best friend. “Ava, you have about twenty billion packs chasing you.”
“Yeah, but I haven’t … you know … with any of them yet.”
“You haven’t?” Bea asks.
“No. I’m still trying to work out my choices.”
“Maybe you need to test out some of those choices,” I say, grinning at her.
“Hmmm,” she says, “well, actually, I’m thinking about dating both Pack London and Pack Darius at the same time, for a bit, while I make up my mind.”
“At the same time?!” I shriek. “Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?”
Ava glares at me. “Bea did it!”
Bea nearly chokes on her vegetable. “That’s not strictly true, but, anyway,” she taps my kneecap, “what happens next with you and these three alphas?”
I look at my best friend and then my sister-in-law. When I tell them, will they think I’ve lost my mind? Are they going to think this is the stupidest idea I’ve ever had – and oh my goodness I’ve had a few.
“Well … it seems …”
“Yes?” Bea says.
“That we’re going to try dating.”
“We?” Ava says, “and who do we mean by we?”
