“I won’t tell her otherwise,” she says.

“No, because then you’ll have to tell her where you really were. As in, not on campus.”

“And I don’t want you to lose your job.”

I sniff, picking up my shirt from the floor and pulling it back over my head. “This job …”

“Why did you take it if you hate it so much?”

“That,” I sigh, “is a long story. And you have to get going. She wants you to go straight to the infirmary to be seen by the matron and then to her office.”

“Crap,” she says, bending down to fetch her jeans and wiggling them up her long legs.

There isn’t really any urgency or hurry, but now I’ve had a rude awakening from the principal, I’m thinking with my head again and not my dick. This situation is … difficult. It will become even more so if I sleep with her. And, shit, I was really, very close to doing just that. Her tight, dripping wet pussy hovering right above my cock.

I take a deliberate stride towards the door. My room smells too much like her, her arousal all over my sheets. I’m going to have to wash them, otherwise it will drive me insane.

“We need to talk about this,” she says, from behind me.

“This?” I say, hesitating.

“What just happened. Our … connection. What we’re going to do about it.”

“We will. Just not now.”

I hear her cross the room, her little hand landing on my shoulder.

“I want to have a choice in this. No more surprises. No waking up in a hospital bed to find I’m bonded.”

I peer at my friend, who’s staring into space with a steely look on his face.

“He saved you,” I say in his defense.

“I know. I just … I just want more control this time.”

I nod, even though I don’t know how much control I have to give, especially with her warm breath on my neck and my bond thrumming in my core.

“And the memories …”

I snap my gaze back to hers. “I can search for a way to lock them back up.”

“No, no, I don’t want that.” She takes a steadying inhale, her body shaking ever so slightly. “But,” her eyes flicker around my face, “I might need your help to understand them. Both of your help.”

“I think that’s sensible. Don’t be tempted to approach them without us.”

She nods and I rest my hand over hers. And for a minute feel as our magic curls around one another’s, longing to combine us.

Then I snatch my hand away.

“You need to go.” She hesitates. “Rhi–”

“He said he had a gift for me.”

“Who?” I say, my brow crinkling.

“Barone.” Azlan’s spine stiffens. “Teeth.”

“Teeth?”
