“What the hell are you doing down there?”Beaufort calls out to me as he sprints past me towards another demon swooping our way.
“Killing fucking demons, what else did you think? Scrabble?” I mumble, jumping back up onto my feet.
Behind me, Henrietta has a demon by its tail and is swinging the creature around her head as she laughs hysterically, seemingly unconcerned with the blood rushing down her face. I shake my head. I’d offer her my help, but the girl is as insane as everyone suspected – this little expedition has made that clear – and she might take my offer of help as an insult and have me hanging by the balls.
Instead I look for my bond brothers. Beaufort, only a few feet away, is using his magic to shield himself from the fire a demon is shooting at his body and further away, is Thorne.
I should be helping, but for a few minutes I can’t help but stand and admire the dude. He stands, both arms outstretched in opposite directions, his gaze intense, his jaw set, his face wet with perspiration. Shadows blast from his open palms and several demons are caught in the onslaught like fish in a net.
“Dray!” Beaufort snaps and I run to his side, blasting at the demon that has cornered him. “Fuck,” he mutters, as the demons shrivels away into nothingness. “Thanks man,” he slaps me on the shoulder, swiping sweat from his eyes.
But there ain’t no time to sit about congratulating each other because two more demons come swarming towards us.
I’ve seen demons before. I’vefoughtdemons before. Not like these ones though. These are big, ugly, grumpy fuckers – powerful and relentless.
It makes this a lot more challenging and a hell of a lot more fun.
Fuck, this is nearly as much fun as licking out my little kitten.
Almost. Not quite. Let’s face it, there isn’t anything better in the whole entire realm, in the whole damn universe, that is as good as that. Except I suppose, licking at her pussy with my fingers in her ass. Hell, I’d love to sink my cock into that ass too. Would love to do it even more in my wolf form.
The shadows in my blood buzz and I flick between my forms, my head and my balls buzzing too.
Fuck me, it’s been too long since I saw that little kitten. Two whole weeks. I can tell by the weight of my frustrated ball sack.
And while hunting demons is fun and all, it isn’t like being with her. I can tell the others feel the same. Thorne is in such a black mood, no one will go within ten damn feet of him. And Beaufort has been snapping everyone’s head off. I reckon his balls are aching just as much as mine.
Just thinking about my little kitten puts a huge smile on my face and I dispose of the next three demons without even thinking about it. My shadows all fucked up and high.
“You enjoying yourself?” Beau asks, spotting my expression.
I bounce on my toes and puff out air. “You bet I am. This is what we were born to do, right? Wanna try that thing next time round?”
“The thing is stupid.”
“So’s your face,” I tell him, blowing him a kiss. “I could go ask Henrietta.” We can both hear her manic laughter. I don’t even want to know what she’s up to now.
“I’ll do the thing,” he says reluctantly.
I wrap my arm around his neck, tug him towards me and land a kiss on his stubbled cheek. Then, as he tries tobreak free, I bend us both in half, avoiding the ball of fire that was coming for our heads.
“Ready,” I whisper in his ears.
He rolls his eyes but nods. We let our shadows twist together creating one strong twist of rope and we go out fishing for another demon fucker.
Because the sooner we kill all these fuckers, the sooner I can be back in the paws of my precious little kitten.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Briony
Turns out it isn’t only the sex I miss about the Princes.
I also realize that despite what I may have thought, the presence of those three shadow weavers must have been acting as some kind of protection. With them gone, a lot more people have accidentally barged into me, tripped me in the hallways or intentionally elbowed me over the last three weeks.
I go out of my way to avoid Odessa – even if she’s seemed less murderous since I punched her in the throat – even if my threat to spread retaliatory rumors stopped her in her tracks – I’m not taking any chances. I also avoid Linette – the remaining Smyte twin. While she’s never attacked me like her sister has, and while she seems a lot quieter without her sister around, I’m not taking any risks there either.
There are some people I can’t avoid though – even if I wish I could.
