Heavy snow.
A smile spread over my face. Yes! There was still a snowstorm predicted to hit early in the evening.
Nope, I definitely wouldn’t let Will go shopping alone. It’d be just my luck for the snowstorm to hit early while I was sitting in the cabin on my own and Will was still in town, doing the grocery shopping.
As cozy, romantic, and exciting as I imagined it’d be to be snowed in together, the thought of being stuck all alone out in that huge ass cabin was kinda creepy.
“Are you checking the weather forecast?”
“Yeah, I still had the app open from this morning.” And if he asked, of course there’d been no sign of a snowstorm this morning. Otherwise, I’d have definitely voted to wait the storm out at home and just drive up to the cabin with the others on Christmas Eve. At least that’s what I’d say tomorrow once we were safely snowed in.
“So, what does the app day?”
“Light snowfall all day long.” I shrugged nonchalantly.
“So it won’t get any heavier than this?”
“Doesn’t look like it.”
“Great.” Will nodded briefly. “To be honest, as much as I loved the idea of spending Christmas in that cabin, I was a little worried about the weather. It’s pretty unpredictable up here.”
“Looks like there’s nothing to worry about.”
After all, I’d planned ahead and was prepared for everything. No matter what happened, we had a romantic weekend ahead of us.
“Still, we should hurry. I really don’t want to stop to put on the snow chains along the way.”
Yeah… me neither. I’d much rather we reached the cabin fast and started our cozy, comfy evening in front of the fireplace.
Phase 4:Let the snow fall from the sky and cover us in a blanket of white.
Chapter 6
Eli
“Wow,” Will said with awe in his voice at the exact same moment our GPS announced we’d reached our destination.
I had to agree with Will.
Wow.
There was no better description for the sight in front of us.
Snowflakes were dancing in front of the windshield, completely virgin and untouched snow stretching out ahead of us. It was a perfectly white, glittering landscape someone had placed a picturesque wooden chalet in. You couldn’t really call it a cabin, it was more of a house, and it looked like someone had just taken it from one of those magical landscape paintings and transported it to the real world.
The only things missing to make the picture even more perfect were the small clouds of smoke rising from the chimney and brightly lit windows.
In the background, the foothills of a mountain garnished with a forest stood out against the light snow, creating a contrast that wasn’t any less beautiful than the rest of the scenery.
I thought there was a bright spot somewhere in the distance. Perhaps another cabin. It was too far away to say for sure, and it didn’t really matter.
This was what mattered.
And this was perfect.
Just…wow.
Sometimes no other words were needed.
