But this was better. This wasreal.
Chapter 18
Eli
Waking up in Will’s arms, feeling his morning wood pressed against my ass and his arm firmly wrapped around me, was almost too good to be true.
Almost.
“Morning,” I whispered into the darkness of the room, trying to get even closer to the source of warmth behind me.
This was so much better than last time! This time there were no comforters separating us, just the thin fabric of our boxers. I could feel his cock sliding between my cheeks, and I moaned.
“Morning,” Will mumbled softly against my neck, his warm breath ghosting over the back of my neck, sending a warm shiver down my spine. Yeah, I definitely wanted to wake up just like this every single day for the rest of my life.
“We should probably get up,” I said, even though I made no effort to move. It might be the smart and responsible thing to do if we didn’t want to have to go out to the truck in our boxers because the tow truck arrived before we were decent, but… I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay just like this. “I mean, it’s New Year’s Eve, and, well, the guy from the towing company will probably come out early so he can finish work early. And if they can’t fix your pickup today, we’ll either have to organize getting a rental or beg one of the others to come get us. Since begging one of them to get us is cheaper, we should probably start calling them so they know we might need help.”
“Mhmm.” Will hummed but didn’t make any effort to actually get up. Instead, he pulled me even closer and buried his nose in my hair. Looked like he didn’t want to go back to the real world, either.
I sighed, turned in his arms and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth. A second on the other side, a third right onto his lips, and a fourth to his nose. I’d have loved to let the kisses linger, wanted to taste him again, but… I needed to brush my teeth. Also, I had the feeling we wouldn’t go anywhere today if we didn’t get up now.
“Come on, we’ve got a long day ahead of us.”
“Yeah, a day you should be well-rested for.”
Laughing, I kissed Will again just because I could. Because I was allowed to kiss him.
“Okay, looks like I need to bring out the big guns. Go get dressed and I’ll go make coffee.”
“You’re perfect,” Will whispered, blindly searching for something on the bedside table. “If you make coffee for us to have on the road, I’ll put our stuff back in the truck so we can get on our way soon. That way, we might have time to stop at the little diner in town to have breakfast.”
His suggestion was tempting. Oh, so tempting. Returning to the diner would be nice. A second chance at what was probably supposed to be our second date.
There was just one teeny, tiny problem — his truck was broke down, and we had to wait for the tow truck. I had no idea if the towing company would take us to the small town we’d visited for our date. Since there weren’t that many towns close to here, it wasn’t unlikely, but unfortunately, we still had more pressing things to do than having a relaxed breakfast date. Even though the plan sounded good. Soo good and couple-y.
Sighing, I freed myself from Will’s embrace. If I wanted there to be any chance for our breakfast date to happen, we needed to be up and ready to make sure everything went smoothly when the tow truck arrived. Besides, Will had said the next guests were to arrive today, which meant that whoever did the cleaning for this place would arrive soon, and I really didn’t want to get caught in bed. It might be funny if it happened to characters in books, but in reality? No, thank you.
“Be careful with the small travel bag, please,” I said while grabbing my folded clothes. “There might be a bottle of champagne in there.”
“I beg your pardon?” Will had found his glasses and put them on, and… holy fuck. Will with sleep-tousled hair was like the hottest thing I’d ever seen. Add the glasses and he was a walking — well, lying — wet dream. A mix of sexy and nerdy, and all Will.MyWill. That sounded so fucking good.
“Champagne, very expensive, bubbly wine. Don’t break the bottle. I’ve got plans for it.” I winked at him and could see exactly when my words registered in his brain because he choked and started coughing violently.
“Champagne. Small travel bag. Watch out. Got it,” he croaked, then shooed me into the bathroom. “Go, or I’ll drag you back to bed after all.”
I sighed but went to the bathroom. Did he have to tempt me like this when we were in a hurry?
Half an hour later, freshly showered, dressed, and with two travel mugs in hand, I stood outside of our cabin, locking the door even though I didn’t understand why.
“Why can’t we wait inside?” I grumbled, casting a longing glance through the window and into the living room of our vacation home. “It’s fucking freezing and snowing, and there’s no sign of a tow truck arriving anytime soon.”
Will didn’t answer. Instead, he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, gave me a quick but thorough kiss, and steered me towards the car.
“Trust me,” he finally said before opening the passenger door for me, waiting for me to get in, then closed the door, circled the truck, and climbed into the driver’s seat. He fastened the seatbelt like it was the most obvious thing to do in a broken-down truck.
I frowned, giving Will a pointed look, raising my eyebrow. He couldn’t have forgotten that his truck wouldn’t start, could he? I mean, it happened yesterday and was the sole reason we were still here.
But while I was still staring at him in absolute bewilderment, worry about his sanity and memory slowly starting to grow, Will put the key into the ignition, turned it, and… the vehicle started. On the first try, as if nothing ever happened.
