“Your what?”

“That’s what Nix calls it. It’s an adaptation of the Irish word for heart. A soul mate. The one person with whom you share a unique bond. A perfect complement. The yin to my yang. The—”

“Okay, okay, I get it.” He laughed softly.

“At least, I think you are.”

“You think? You’re not sure?”

“There’s only one way to be sure.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?”

“According to Nix, it works both ways. You can’t be my croie if I’m not yours. So, am I?”

Zeke rolled her over and looked into her eyes as he slid deep inside her.

“Yes, Aggie. You most definitely are.”

Epilogue – Part I

Aggie

“So?” Nix asked quietly. They sat wrapped in fluffy robes, sipping champagne and enjoying a spa day at the Celtic Goddess luxury resort on the outskirts of Pine Ridge. Nix knew the owners and had reserved a private room for her and Aggie. The pampering was exactly what she’d needed. When she climbed into bed with Zeke later that night, buffed and waxed with skin smoother than a baby’s bottom, she thought he’d appreciate it, too.

“So...” A smile curled Aggie’s lips, just as it always did when she thought of Zeke and the way things were between them. “You were right. He’s the one.”

Nix nodded, pleased but not surprised. “Good.”

“It’s weird, you know? I never expected this. Any of this.”

“Yes, I know. I’ve got kids for God’s sake.”

Aggie laughed. She didn’t know anything about Nix’s origins, who she’d been or what circumstances had put her in Taser’s sights, just like Nix didn’t know about hers. Chameleons didn’t talk about their past histories. Once they signed on, they got new lives, new identities.

Nix was one of the best agents her brother had ever had. She still was. There was a time when that meant no commitments, no friends, no family, but Nix proved that it was possible to have it all. The key, according to Nix, was finding the right one. Someone who would support but not suffocate.

There was no doubt in Aggie’s mind that Zeke was the right one for her. She couldn’t imagine a day without him. He was her protector, her champion, her confidant, and her lover. Oh, the past six months hadn’t been without their share of tiffs and disagreements. It was hard going from being alone and making all her own decisions to having to consider someone else, especially someone as alpha as Zeke, but they were finding their way.

What helped was that Zeke had as much of a restless spirit as she did. The chalet was still their home base, but they’d taken several trips to various parts of the country. Traveling with Zeke was amazing. He didn’t mind staying under the radar. In fact, he was quite good at it. And he was a boss at gathering information. Bonus—he gave the best back rubs... and other things.

She felt the heat rising in her face when she thought of what Zeke had given her just that morning. Nix’s lips curled in a knowing smirk.

“I doubt kids are in our future,” Aggie said honestly.

“No one says they have to be. The only thing that matters is that you do what’s right for you. But, if you ever do decide to set up an east coast home base, Pine Ridge is a nice place to do it. You would fit right in.”

Aggie couldn’t agree more. The area was beautiful, a series of valleys nestled in the mountains. It held a lot of secrets, too. She knew only a little about the Callaghans and their Ghost Team, but it was enough to know that she and Zeke would be safe and in good company.

“Plus, you’d have me,” Nix added.

A subtle pang of longing skittered through her chest. Aggie had never had a close friend. Her life—and her brother’s—precluded such a thing. If the past six months had proven anything, however, it was that things Aggie thought she could never have now seemed possible.

“Thanks, Nix. I’d like that.”

“I’ll have Shane scout out some possible locations in the area for you.”

“How many brothers are there again?”
