Maybe, just maybe, things are looking up. Baby steps. But still. It’s something. I’ll take it.

I’m pumped, ready to go. Ready to kick these fuckers ass and bring on the win we deserve.

“Let’s go, Sea Serpents!” I roar. “Let’s fucking go!”

Chapter 9

Levi

Rain beats down onto my umbrella, rolling off in rivulets. It’s freezing, my feet are soaked, and any other time, these things would make me absolutely miserable, but right now, all I can do is jump to my feet and cheer along with everyone else in the crowd as our team gets another goal.

Sports are not my thing. I don’t understand half of it. At most, I enjoyed kicking around a soccer ball when I was younger, but that's about it.

I have no idea the rules of rugby, despite growing up with two people who played it.

So, for the majority of this game, my eyes have been on Austin. Seeing him out there is like pure porn. The way he moves, how his arms flex when he throws the ball to his teammate, or how he dives for the ball.

Watching him roll around in the mud and come back up with a massive smile on his face makes my chest tight in a good way.

He’s amazing. The whole team is. I haven’t been paying much attention to Cole or Charlie, but when my attention happens to go to them, they seem to be doing good.

Either way, Austin is my main focus.

The smile that lit up his face when he saw me sitting in the stands at the beginning of the game made coming here and sitting in this horrible weather worth it.

It was the first time I turned down an extra shift, and while I thought my boss was going to be pissed, he was pretty understanding. I don’t know why I thought the world would end. I guess it's the chance of upsetting someone or disappointing them that created the anxiety.

Turning down the shift so I could go and do something for myself felt freeing. Knowing that after this game, I have time to hang out with Austin if he wants, has me pretty much bouncing in my seat.

That is, unless he doesn’t want to hang out with me. Don’t they normally go for drinks when they win?

Will he ask me to come along, or will he want to go be with his teammates?

I’m starting to get lost in my own head when the crowd starts to get louder again.

Blinking, I bring my attention back to the field. I find Austin, and my brows jump as I see one of his teammates grab for Austin. They grab him by his shorts and pretty much throw him in the air.

I’m not sure if I should be impressed by the way Austin snatches the ball out of the air, or turned on at the fact that his shorts are pretty much up his ass right now, showing off his toned cheeks.

Nope, it’s the jealousy that Cole is touching my man’s ass that wins out. Only, he’s not my man. Not really.

The moment Austin’s feet hit the ground, he throws the ball to his teammate. They catch it, drop it, and then kick it.

My eyes widen in awe as I watch the ball sail halfway across the field.

The whole place goes nuts, people screaming and cheering. I’m going to guess we won?

Based on how Austin’s team all flock together, hugging and patting each other on the shoulder with shit eating grins, I’m going to say yes.

The other team looks pissed, screaming something towards our players. My brother just flips them off and joins the team.

People start to move towards the field. The need to see Austin, to congratulate him on his win, has me moving with them.

When I get to the grass, Austin looks over and sees me. That same smile slips onto his handsome face, and my stomach erupts into butterflies.

He’s dripping wet, covered in mud, and has never looked so damn sexy.

He jogs over to me. “Did you see that!?” he laughs. “We fucking won!”
