“I don’t want to end this year or start another one without you. Marry me.” He pulled a small velvet box from his pocket and opened it, presenting the ring to me.
“I-I—” I stuttered, my eyes darting between his and the ring. Holy smokes, what a ring it was. Dazzling perfection and so me. “I thought you didn’t want to get married.”
“I didn’t think I did.” He peered up at me. “But then you came along with your captivating blue eyes and a smile that could knock me flat.”
I smiled, and he pointed up at me. “That’s the one. And you changed me.”
“Harrison.” I tugged on his hand, inviting him to stand. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. And I would be honored to be your wife.”
His answering smile was blinding, and he quickly slid the ring onto my finger before pulling me into his arms. “You don’t know how happy you’ve made me.” He pressed a kiss into my hair.
And then he was brushing my hair aside, kissing behind my ear, down my neck. I shivered.
“And how crazy you make me.” His voice was gravelly as he cupped my breasts, pushing them up as he kissed me over the material of my dress. He groaned, sending a bolt of desire rushing through me.
“You’re driving me crazy,” I gasped as he continued to kiss any available skin, pulling my dress aside to tease my nipples. “Oh god.” I leaned my head back.
The doorbell rang, and my eyes darted toward the bedroom door, which was still open. “To be continued…” I righted my dress, shimmying to get it back in place.
“We still have a few minutes. I can be fast.”
I grinned and turned toward the mirror, fluffing my hair as I double-checked my appearance. I looked happy, eyes shining bright, cheeks flushed. Harrison wrapped his arms around me from behind, his erection digging into my backside.
“Beautiful.” He pulled back my hair, pressing his lips behind my ear. “You’re absolutely stunning. And I don’t want to wait.”
I shook my head with a smile, turning in his arms to pat his cheek. “You’ll be fine. Plus—” I arched an eyebrow “—I promise to make it worth your while.”
“Mm. I like the sound of that.” He pulled me into him. “But that’s not what I was talking about. I know you plan weddings for a living, but I don’t want to wait to get married.”
“You know what? Neither do I.” I smiled at his surprised expression. “How does March sound?”
“Wow. That’s—” He blinked. “Only three months away.”
“What? Are you getting cold feet?”
“No.” He chuckled. “Never. I’m just surprised you can make it happen so fast, especially after seeing what went into Olivia’s wedding.”
“Well…” I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I was thinking something small, something in the backyard…”
“That sounds perfect.” He cupped my cheeks, his gaze intense. “You’re the love of my life, Jules,” he murmured.
“Youaremy life.” I kissed him, hoping he understood just how much I loved him. When he teased the seam of my lips with his tongue, gripping my ass, I pulled back, breathless. “Come on. We’ve got a party to attend.”
He grinned, adjusting himself, though there was no hiding the bulge in his pants.
“Aren’t you going to do something about that?” I teased, loving the effect I had on him.
“Aren’t you?” he challenged.
“Later.” I gave him a quick peck.
When we emerged onto the landing, everyone turned their faces upward to watch us from below. Friends, family, colleagues, they were all there.
Harrison held up my left hand, flashing them the ring. “She said yes!”
Everyone cheered, and I turned to him, stunned. “They knew about this?”
“Of course. This is our engagement party after all.” He grinned.
