“Wait for it.” My voice is barely a whisper, not wanting to break the magic of the moment. A sudden streak of light shoots across the sky, causing Emma to gasp in amazement. “There you go, a meteor shower just for you.”

“Is this why you planned our date here?” Her eyes widen in awe, still watching the spectacle above us.

“Yep,” I admit, feeling a rush of pride at having orchestrated such a special night. “One of my electives is an astrology class. I knew this was happening tonight and thought it would be perfect.”

“Thank you, Alec.” She turns to me, her face illuminated by the soft glow of the stars. “This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced.”

“Anytime, Emma.” I smile, basking in the warmth of her happiness.

As we lay back on the blanket, side by side, our fingers intertwine. The cool night air brushes against our skin, but the heat radiating from Emma’s body keeps me warm. We continue to watch the meteor shower, taking in the majesty of the cosmos.

“Hey, Alec?” Emma’s voice is gentle, almost hesitant.

“Yeah?”

“Thank you for tonight. And for everything.” Her words carry the weight of sincerity and gratitude, making my heart swell with affection.

“Of course,” I say softly, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. “That’s what boyfriends are for, right?”

“Right,” she agrees, her smile widening.

“I know it’s soon but I need to tell you. I love you, Emma.”

Her eyes widen as she stares at me. “I love you too, Alec. It’s not too soon. Everything between us has been magnetic from the start.”

As we lay there together, beneath the vast expanse of the glittering sky, I can’t help but feel as though the universe itself has led me to this moment – to Emma.

Chapter 26

The night sky is a sea of glittering stars, casting a soft glow on the rooftop where Alec and I find ourselves alone.

“Wow, this is amazing,” I murmur, my green eyes wide with wonder as I gaze up at the endless expanse above us.

Alec chuckles, his warm breath tickling my ear. “I prefer to look at you.” He leans in to press a gentle kiss on my cheek, making me blush.

“That is so cheesy,” I say playfully, rolling over to face him. “It’s like they’re a reminder that there’s so much beauty in the world.”

“Emma,” Alec says softly, his blue eyes full of emotion. “You’re my reminder that the world can be good.”

My heart skips a beat, and I lean in to steal a quick kiss from his lips. “Flattery will get you everywhere, Mr. Campbell.”

“Is that so?” he grins, moving closer until I can feel the heat radiating off his body. I nod, biting my lip in anticipation. Alec’s hand brushes against my arm, sending shivers down my spine.

I close my eyes as Alec begins to plant feathery kisses along my collarbone. His touch is electric, igniting a fire within me. My hands tangle in his short, dark hair, encouraging him to continue his exploration.

His lips trail down my neck, lingering on the sensitive spot below my ear that makes me squirm. “I love how responsive you are,” Alec murmurs, his breath hot against my skin.

“For you,” I admit, my voice barely a whisper.

“Emma…” Alec’s eyes meet mine, and I can see the vulnerability he’s trying to hide. We both know that opening up to each other hasn’t been easy for either of us.

“I trust you,” I tell him, my voice filled with conviction. “I want you, Alec. More than anything.”

“God, Emma,” Alec groans, his lips crashing down onto mine in a heated, passionate kiss. Our mouths move in sync, tongues dancing together as we explore each other’s depths.

My hands roam over Alec’s muscular back, feeling the strength beneath his smooth skin. His fingers find the hem of my shirt, and he breaks our kiss to pull it off over my head. He gazes at me hungrily, his eyes drinking in every inch of my exposed skin before pulling a blanket up to cover us both.

It’s touchingly considerate.
