I know they’re both right.

“Dax, we aren’t rushing, Oli,” Jack interjects, looking at me worried.

“Look at her,” Chase continues, brushing a strand of rose gold hair from my face, his green eyes meeting Dax’s in a silent battle of wills. “Oli’s strong, but she needs time to recover.”

“Oli comes first,” Aiden declares, moving over to my other side.

Dax growls, looking frustrated. “Of course, Oli comes first.” He turns to look at me but can’t maintain eye contact. “Oli, if you want to skip tonight’s show, I will call and tell Trevor myself, but if you want to make it, we have to leave now. We can fly, and this mini heat won’t have impacted any shows, but we would have to hurry. It’s completely up to you.”

“Thank you,” I murmur, grateful yet overwhelmed. Gratitude warms me, mixing with the remnants of heat still simmering under my skin. “I don’t want to miss a show.”

“Let’s get you up and ready then,” Dax says, but he keeps acareful distance.

I sit up, pushing the tangled sheets away as I swing my legs over the edge of the bed.

Aiden, Jack, and Chase surround me.

“Guys, really, I’m okay,” I insist, mustering a strength that surprises even me.

“Oli, you don’t have to prove anything,” Jack says softly, his concern palpable.

I turn to face them both, planting my feet firmly on the ground. “I’m not proving—I’m doing. Being an omega never stopped me before, and it sure as hell won’t now.”

The room spins slightly, a reminder of the intensity of the past day, but I steady myself against the nightstand.

Dax, Jack, and Aiden turn to Chase, who shrugs.

“Don’t look to Chase for answers! I said I’m fine, trust me,” I snap.

They all look shocked at my anger. It’s not something they’ve really seen yet.

Jack nods. “You’re right. It’s up to you. That doesn’t mean we won’t take care of you while we get to St. Louis. We are your alphas, and you need food and water after everything we have just gone through.”

I smile, hugging Jack. “That sounds wonderful and-” I break off, looking around at all of them. “Thank you for being with me during my heat.”

Jack pulls me into a kiss before passing me over to Aiden, who does the same. Chase knows I’m not sure about him, so he only pulls me into a hug. Dax ignores us, which stings once again.

Chase stands too, his movements slow and reluctant, but his hands are steady as they guide me toward the closet. “Let’sget you dressed, little rose. If we’re doing this, we’re doing it together.”

With each piece of clothing, a layer of vulnerability sheds from my skin. I shove my feet into a pair of combat boots, not bothering to lace them up all the way.

“Let’s hit the road, then,” Jack says, slinging an arm around my shoulder, his warmth reassuring.

I’m worried Oli will hate us as soon as she has a moment to let everything sink in.

We let Chase and her bond during her heat.

It’s unacceptable.

Being with her during her heat was everything I could have ever dreamed of, and now she might hate us.
