He stared at her exposed flesh, mouth hanging. “Once you see it, you may not want to...”
Marnie closed her eyes, sighing with frustration. Timing! The wretched man was going to ruin this with his overthinking. No wonder he couldn’t sleep. Marnie looked up at the ceiling, her body still aching for him. She wanted more. She wasn’t going to let him, and whatever was in the papers, snatch this away. Taking a deep breath, Marnie pushed herself up and climbed on top of him. She felt his hard erection against her.
“This might be all we ever have,” she whispered. “We should enjoy it.”
To her relief, the worry on his face melted as she guided him inside her. She really should have asked for a condom this time, but at her age, with her history, the risk was low. She couldn’t be fertile anymore. And he felt so good, filling every inch of her. She let her entire weight rest against him and rocked, deep moans forming somewhere inside her as intense waves of pleasure rose from her core.
He cupped her buttocks, matching her movement, his eyes locked on her, burning her skin. His eyes clouded over. There was nothing more beautiful, more satisfying. She’d lured him away with her, to escape reality. His mouth found her nipple and sucked, sending a sharp tingle down her spine.
“You’re so sexy,” he rasped, and the thickness of his voice pooled more warmth down her belly.
Discarding her last ounce of shame, she lowered and allowed her breasts to fall on his face, trapping him with her flesh. He groaned with pleasure, nuzzling in-between. She felt invincible. Sexy. And the build-up of another orgasm. Could she really come again? Was her body capable of this? She could hardly believe the fiery sensations coursing through her. She could only submit. Keep moving. Nothing could make her stop.
Her second release almost rivalled the first in its intensity. She cried out as she spasmed against his chest. Her nails dug into his shoulders as her body took over, drawing every drop of him.
She stayed there, unwilling to sober up. The gentle aftershocks travelled through her like a lingering electric current. What felt like minutes later, she finally opened her eyes, as if discovering her surroundings for the first time. What had come over her? She’d never behaved like that.
Rolling off him, snuggled against his warm body, she left her arm on his chest but avoiding his eyes. “Wow. That was...”
“Okay?” His voice carried a cheeky tone.
He turned to face her, placing his forehead so close it was touching hers. His gaze burned her until he found eye contact. It felt raw, more intimate than the pleasure they’d shared.
A burst of joy split her face into a wide smile. “That was amazing. You’re definitely redeemed as a lover.”
His smile was just as wide. For a moment, the shadows were chased away, replaced by invincible lightness she hadn’t witnessed in him before. “I think I need to do that a couple more times, though, just to be sure.”
“I’m okay with that.”
He inched closer, but soon the light in his eyes dimmed. “I just worry that once you see the headlines, you won’t come back.”
“Is it that bad?”
“I hope I can keep you out of it. But that means we can’t be seen together in public, or... I’m so sorry.”
Marnie felt a tight squeeze in her chest. She’d never expected to be seen with him in public. Why would he worry about that? She brushed her thumb across his stubbly cheek, trying to smile reassuringly. “That’s fine. We’ll be careful. If you want to see me again, just text me, and I’ll sneak in here after dark. I’ll be your sleep mistress.”
“Sleep mistress?” He laughed.
Marnie’s cheeks blazed with heat. “Well, not just for sleep, but...”
He placed a kiss on her nose. “Nope. Not a mistress. That sounds like I have another woman somewhere. I would never... and if I heard you were seeing someone else, I’d flip out. Honestly, I’m not good at sharing.” The gravity in his voice split her heart wide open.
Marnie nuzzled against his ribs; warm glow engulfing her entire body. “You don’t have to worry about that. I’m all yours. We just can’t make it public. I’m sorry.”
“I understand.”
She glanced at the suit he’d hung up on the door. “Don’t you have to be somewhere today?”
She knew his schedule and she’d be damned if she let him fail at his job. He’d been given the opportunity of a lifetime, and today’s appearance must have been important.
Switching into work mode, Jason jumped out of bed and disappeared into the en-suite. Marnie got up, noting the delicious ache in her core, the sign of being desired, alive. So different from the joint pain. She dressed in her exercise gear and tiptoed into the kitchen. This time, she’d write her number on a huge piece of paper. Or maybe directly into his phone. That way, he wouldn’t lose it. She found his phone on the coffee table and turned it over. The lock screen was on, but the notifications caught her off guard. Of course. He was getting messages about last night. She could only see the beginning of each one, and the words gave her a chill.
‘Call me!! Now!’
‘What the fuck is going...?’
‘Shit, Jason! How do you...’
