“So do you,” she simpered, locking the door while I took her bag.
We walked to the car, and her energy was calm but curious. She wasn’t asking where we were going, but I could tell she wanted to.
When we got to the restaurant, it wasn’t too loud or crowded. I held the door for her, and the hostess seated us right away. Once we were seated, Zora picked up the menu and glanced over it before looking at me. “I see you’re doing it big tonight.”
“You deserve it,” I said.
She blushed at my statement. “Why are you being so nice for no reason?”
“No reason?” I asked. “You sure about that?”
She looked at me longer that time before setting the menu down. “Okay… maybe there is one. You gonna tell me?”
“Not yet.”
“You’re annoying.” She shook her head.
“And you still came out with me.”
Our drinks came, and she leaned in a little. “You didn’t tell me anything about tonight,” she said. “I figured it was cute-casual. Not… this.”
“You look good no matter what.”
She rolled her eyes but didn’t hide her smile.
We ordered, and dinner moved easy. She told me about her day off, and it still sounded like she was working.
“You always gotta be doing something, huh?”
“That’s called being grown,” she said.
“You’re absolutely right, baby. That’s one of the things that I like about you. You’re always on your shit.”
“You always hype me up.”
“I only say what’s true.”
After dinner, I guided her outside with my hand at her back. She slipped her arm through mine, and we headed to the car. She didn’t ask a single question on the ride to the hotel. We just rode in a comfortable silence. When we pulled up to the hotel, I gave the valet my keys and grabbed our bags from the trunk. I already checked in digitally, so all I had to do was head upstairs. Once we got upstairs and I opened the suite door, she stepped in and stopped.
Everything was set exactly how I planned. Soft lighting, thoughtful details, nothing overdone. She walked forward slowly, taking in every detail.
“Semi…” she whispered. “What is all this?”
I stepped behind her. “I wanted to show you how much I love you.”
She turned, eyes wide. “You… love me?”
I nodded once.
She turned back toward the room, breathing a little deeper, letting everything catch up with her. I stepped closer, ready to say more, but she beat me to it.
“I love you too,” she countered.
I didn’t waste another second. I pulled her in, hands on her waist, and kissed her slow. She melted into me, arms around my neck, pressing her body into mine. The kiss deepened, the room warmed, and the night shifted into something intimate without either of us pushing it.
I guided her toward the bed, letting our bodies move in sync. Her hands grabbed at my shirt, her breath caught against my mouth, and every wall I kept up dropped without a fight in that moment. Zora was everything I never knew I needed and everything that I wanted.
This wasn’t a moment to remember…this was the start of everything after.
She was mine…and I wasn’t going anywhere.
The End!!!
