Lisa, I’ve enjoyed every minute of spending time with you. I wish things were different. Every night, right before I fall asleep, I wonder… is it really possible to be in love with two people at the same time? And every night, I come to the same answer… Yes, it is.

I know that we are expected to demonstrate our love for someone by going on romantic dates, being intimate with them, being there for them during difficult times and so much more.
But, this time, I’m forced to share my love in a different way, to protect you. And this is why I’ve decided to resign from my job with immediate effect. My decision will shield you from the unprecedented backlash you’d receive —especially from the misogynists whose agenda was to bring you down from the first day you were appointed CEO— for having an affair with your subordinate… or prevent you from making an unethical decision, which I know would destroy you.
Also, if our secret were to get out. Think about how that would devastate Emily. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if she found out about us.
On that note, you should also know that I’m deeply in love with Emily and would like to take our relationship to the next level. So, going forward, I will no longer be physically or emotionally involved with you.
My future is with Emily, and I want to do things the right way.
