“Did you see any cameras?”A thought is starting to take hold.

“It would seem this hotel doesn’t want anyone to know who is coming in and out of the back hallways.”Mercy shrugs, leaning on the wall seeming to be bored.

“Would you boys like to cause some havoc?”I toss at them as I collect a couple more pieces of hair.

“Isn’t that the only reason you keep us around?”Mercy deadpans.

“Fair point.”I nod.“We need the big guy out of the way so we can get this woman out.She would probably lose her shit if we tried wrapping her in plastic.”

“You got it, Prez.”Mercy stands from the wall.“Come on, brother, it is time to share some of your toys.”

Blender doesn’t say a word.He just turns and opens the door, marching out.It doesn’t take five minutes before Mercy comes back in, smirking at us.

“He’s down. You boys have another small mess to take care of.We’ll see you back at the clubhouse.I have a party and a woman to join.”Mercy waves as he turns, walking out the door without a backward glance.

“Fuck me, those assholes really have some serious fucking issues,” Remedy murmurs, watching their retreating forms.

“Tell me something I don’t know.We need to get moving before anyone returns,” I tell them.

Remedy reaches down, scooping up the semi-conscious woman and holding her to his chest. She groans but doesn’t move or make any other sound.Anvil steps out of the room first, gun drawn and at the ready.Remedy is right behind him with me following them for cover if need be.We make it to the mouth of the hallway to find the big bodyguard lying face down on the island.

Slowly we move out of the room as one.Our group makes it down the hallway, onto the elevator, through the back door, and to the vans without a single problem.Remedy steps into the van, laying the woman down in the back while keeping a hand on one of her pulse points.

“You two get her the fuck out of here.Satchel and I will do what needs to be done here,” I tell them as Anvil climbs out of the van and slams the doors.

“You got it, Prez. We’ll be in touch.”Anvil slaps me on the shoulder as he turns to climb into the van.

I watch them drive off before going back into the hotel to get the job done.I need a drink, some good food, and a willing pussy to clear the past that’s trying to pull me under.

Chapter Five

Anastasia

“You knew, didn’t you?”I yell as I storm into the house.

Auntie Lynn looks up at me, trying to seem bewildered.“I am not sure I know what you’re screaming about.”

“First, I want to start with the fact that the cleaning company is associated with a motorcycle club, and second, for the love of God, confirm you did not know Watson Taylor was involved.”I choke back a sob.

Auntie Lynn looks down at her hands, twisting them together.“To be honest, I knew the club was involved and there was a possibility Watson Taylor might be involved.Erin Rose assured me that Watson Taylor rarely has anything to do with the cleaning company.Today was a one-off.”

“Auntie Lynn, are you kidding me?That’s going to put him too close to Rusher.”I shake my head.“I can’t fucking do this. It’s too much.Too fucking close.”

My spiraling is stopped mid-rant when the door bursts open.Blowing in like the hurricane that she is, Shea storms in.

“Anastasia, where the fuck are you?”she screams as I hear her marching down the hallway.

I look at Auntie Lynn, who is looking at me with a matching wide-eyed look.Shea being here is never a good thing, and the tone in her voice means she’s about to go scorched earth.I place both hands on the island in front of me and drop my head down, praying for patience that I don’t know my broken heart has.Shea slams her purse down on the counter, with hands on her hips.

“Pack Rusher’s things.I’m taking him with me tonight!”she hisses, breathing fire.

I stop breathing.The world stops with me.It all freezes—thought, sound, even my heart.No, no, no, no.This cannot be happening.Rusher is everything.I can’t lose him.I fucking won't.

I force myself to straighten, every muscle trembling, and fix my gaze on the woman I’ve spent my whole life protecting.Every second since the day she was born, I’ve shielded her—from our parents’ chaos, from their poison, from everything ugly and cruel that ever tried to touch her.

And now I don’t recognize the woman trying to tear my world to shreds.

“Shea, he is not going with you.I do not know why you are here.Or what the hell happened for you to be going off the deep end, but what I do know is that Rusher isn’t going anywhere.”Her look of surprise matches my own.
