He felt it. He felt all of it.

“Come here… come on baby… let it go…” he whispered, his voice breakin’ while he kept movin’ me on him.

We came together, both of us tremblin’, both of us moanin’ into each other’s mouths. I could feel his body tightened under me as he released deep inside, and the warmth of his nut pushed me over the edge again.

I collapsed on top of him, both of us covered in sweat. His arms wrapped around me, holdin’ me close while his dick softened inside me slow, and neither of us wanted to move.

He kissed the top of my head, his hand rubbin’ my back. “We good, baby,” he whispered. “We gon’ be good.”

I nodded, lettin’ his warmth calm me. For the first time tonight, I felt peace. All that pain from earlier ain’t even matter no more. It was just me and him, right where we belonged.

Just when we was ‘bout to go to sleep, my phone started ringin’. I groaned and reached around the bed, tryna find it through the sheets. It was somewhere near my leg, vibratin’. Igrabbed it, squintin’ at the screen when I saw a number I ain’t recognize. For a second, I thought about lettin’ it ring out, but somethin’ in me said answer it.

“Hello?” I answered, my voice low and tired.

The voice on the other end was deep and mean. “This Toni?”

I frowned. “Who askin’?”

“Don’t worry ‘bout that. Just know I’m lookin’ for that nigga you laid up with. Tell your man I want his head.”

The second I heard that, my heart dropped. I sat up fast, lookin’ toward Kay’Lo, who was already stirrin’. He propped himself on one elbow, his brows low, and his whole vibe switchin’. “Who that?”

I put the call on speaker, my hand shakin’ a lil’. “It’s my uncle,” I said, my stomach turnin’.

“Uncle?” Kay’Lo repeated, his voice sharp. “What uncle?”

“Darnell,” I muttered.

Before I could say anything else, Darnell’s voice barked through the phone. “Tell that nigga I said what I said! He think shit sweet ‘cause he killed my son and got away with it, but I promise you it ain’t over.”

Kay’Lo snatched the phone from my hand so fast it made me jump. “Her nigga right here,” he said, his tone low and deadly. “What’s up?”

Darnell laughed, that ugly, hateful sound crawlin’ through the speaker. “Nigga, where you at then? We can handle it right now.”

“Nah,” Kay’Lo said, leanin’ forward. “Where the fuck you at?”

Darnell didn’t hesitate. “I’m in the same hood you seen me in before. You know where to find me. Pull up if you got the balls.”

Kay’Lo smirked, cold and unbothered. “Bet.” Then he hung up the phone, tossed it on the bed, and got up like he was born for moments like this.

“Kay’Lo,” I said quick, my voice shakin’. “Don’t do this, please. Not right now.”

He pulled on his pants, and grabbed his shirt from the chair without even lookin’ at me. “Nah, Toni. Fuck that. Niggas wanna talk crazy, they gon’ get crazy.”

“Baby, please,” I begged, reachin’ for his arm. “It’s late. Let this shit go. We so far away from where that nigga live. We on a whole island, baby. Fuck him.”

He stopped, finally lookin’ at me, his eyes dark and full of heat. “Toni, that nigga threatened me. I ain’t the type to let that slide.”

I shook my head, my voice gettin’ softer. “I ain’t tell you not to defend yourself, but you know that nigga been wantin’ a reason. He still mad about Deuce, and he ain’t never gon’ see the truth about what happened. You killed his son ‘cause you had to. You was protectin’ yourself. You don’t owe him shit.”

He ran a hand down his face and sighed, sittin’ on the edge of the bed for a second. “I know, but I’m tired of niggas actin’ like I’m supposed to let ‘em play with me.”

“‘Lo, don’t let this be the thing that send you backwards. You got a future, baby. You got me. You got Pressure, Renza, and your whole family ridin’ for you. You don’t need to prove shit.”

He looked up at me, and for a second, I could see that fight inside him—the part that wanted to go handle shit and the part that knew I was right. His hand came up, slid around my thigh, and gripped it firm.

He reached for my chin and pulled me closer till our foreheads touched. “If that nigga call again, I swear to God I’m goin’.”
