Kane barks a laugh. “I knew you were a freak, Sam. You’re just as into this as I am. Let me fuck her first, and I’ll even share her pussy with you sometime. We can both fit.”

I sputter in disbelief. “What? That’s impossible!”

“It’s not,” Sam breathes, staring past me to look at Kane.

Ohmygod. “You’re both insane!”

“Insanely horny,” Kane chuckles, smacking my ass. “From the look of Sam’s cock, anyway.”

“Shut up,” Sam grinds out through clenched teeth. He finally pulls me off the floor and away from Kane’s eager dick. “I’m fucking her first, so don’t try it.”

While Sam and I step out of the shower without even having washed ourselves, Kane smacks the wet tile floor. “C’mon, why be shy about it? We can do it right here. There’s plenty of room. You go first, and then I’ll follow-up. She’ll be dripping down her thighs within the hour.”

I gape at his grinning face while Sam wraps me in a fluffy towel. “I’m not losing my virginity in the shower!”

“There are plenty of worse places.” Kane picks himself up off the floor and grabs a bottle of body wash. I guess he was serious about taking a shower. “Look, all I’m saying is, we don’t need tokeep dancing around it. We’re going to have sex.” He meets my eyes, then Sam’s. “All of us. So what’s the hold up?”

Sam gently towel dries my hair. “Your boyfriend,” he growls, remaining gentle with me despite the bite in his tone, “is a fucking problem.”

Kane grunts as he lathers up his chest and arms. “He’s misunderstood.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah, seriously.” Turning around, he wets his hair. “We just need to get him to open up a little. He’s stubborn, so we’ll have to convince him.”

“Convince him, how?” I ask. “I don’t want to get him drunk.”

“Not like that,” Kane assures me. “But it’s gonna take all three of us to make this work. I need your word that you won’t hurt him.” For this, Kane makes eye contact with Sam. “Especially yours, Wright. If you do anything behind my back, I’ll strangle you. Slowly.”

Holding Sam’s hand, I lace our fingers together. “He won’t,” I promise for him. “We just want answers.”

For starters, anyway. I can’t speak to what comes after.

“Fine,” Sam grumbles, squeezing my hand. “What is this master plan of yours?”

Kane turns off the water and faces us, his body glistening as he grins. “We tie him up. Thenshe—” he nods towards me— “gets our answers. He’ll dodge my questions all day, but Mercy?” Whistling, he steps closer. Water drips down his body and pools at his feet. “She does something to him. Makes him vulnerable, or some shit. That’s what we need if we’re going to get through to him.”

“Otherwise, we die.” Sam scowls deeply. “I don’t like it.”

“You don’t have to like it. You just have to go through with it.”

I look to Kane, then to Sam. “Okay. I’ll do it.” I don’t like the idea of waltzing up to Zane for anything right now, but maybethat’s the point. To get to the other side of my discomfort, I have to blast through it. I can’t sneak around it or pretend that he doesn’t exist.

I have to confront our demons—both his and mine—head-on.

Chapter 15

Kane

Spendingan entire day pretending that everything is normal isn’t my fucking jam. It royally sucks. Whoever decided that lying made a person stronger was an idiot, because I feel like I’m about to jump out of my skin.

It doesn’t help that Zane knows something is up.

“You’re avoiding me,” he says out of the blue, flicking his gaze up from the ice pack in my hand.

I place the pack over his nose as gently as possible. “I’m not.” Sam got a few hits in while I was waking Mercy from her nightmare, the fucking prick. Yeah, Zane isn’t faultless, but we’re learning to use our words around here, not our fists.Allegedly, anyway. The learning curve is pretty steep. “Why did he punch you?”

A rare smile makes Zane wince. “I taunted him. Told him that I’d touched Mercy.”
