Across from him, Brad looked sharp in histux. He raised a brow. “You good to go? Not getting cold feet, areyou?”
“Hell no, I’m not getting cold feet. I’mready for this.” Trish smiled at him from the front pew, Landonnext to her. On the other side of the aisle Dawn sat with Charlie,still geeky-looking in his dark-framed glasses, holding hands withhis girlfriend, Beth.
Levi looked out across the church at thepeople of Hangman’s Loss. Jack and Dory, Logan and Maddy, all thepeople who’d helped to shape him into the man he’d become.
The processional began with Eva and Diegowalking arm and arm down the aisle to take their places as the onlyattendants. Amaya toddled up the center aisle waving what Emma hadcalled a ribbon wand in her hand. Owen followed with a satin pillowholding the rings, then came Keely and Mason carrying a clothbanner between them that read “Here Comes the Bride.”
The music changed and there she was. Hisheart. His future. He didn’t know the first thing about weddingdresses but this one suited Zoey perfectly. She’d gone with abraided hairstyle that incorporated a crown of flowers to match theones she carried. As she walked down the aisle, she kept her eyeson his until coming to a stop in front of him. He took her hand andthey faced forward.
The minister said his part, then it wasLevi’s turn. With Zoey’s hands in his, he gazed into her eyes as hevowed his love and said the words that committed him to herforever. He held her gaze as she gave her vows to love and cherishhim for the rest of their lives. Then the minister spoke the wordsthat sealed their union: “I now pronounce you husband andwife.”
Levi dipped his head to kiss his bride, hishand at her waist touching the baby bump.
