“I’ll be unable to respond if you keep doing that.” I sighed.Because that’s not distracting.
“What? This?” he asked, stroking his hair back again slowly with his eyes closed, mocking me, of course. He always found a way to make me laugh, even when I didn’t want to.
I quickly frowned after that, looking at the floor, and switched back to a serious mood. “I broke up with Thomas on the phone just before you arrived,” I admitted.
William pulled my chin up, trying to find my eyes. “That’s—nice to hear.”
“Can I borrow your phone? I’m calling the guys. I should leave.” It was not a good idea to spend the night, not after all the kissing. I wouldn’t want to give him the wrong impression.
“No.”
“No?” I grimaced—confused.
“No, you can’t borrow my phone.”
“So, I’m going to be held against my will?” My teeth chattered. Even though it was summer, the ocean breeze against my soaking wet clothes felt cold.
“Let’s get you inside. You’re freezing.” He placed his hand on the small of my back, guiding me. “Why don’t you take a shower in the guest room, and if you still want to leave afterward, I’ll let you borrow my phone.”
It sounded like a decent plan to me since Iwasfreezing, and the thought of a warm shower was tempting. William guided me to the guest room in the far end, leaving a water trail behind us.
“This is the bathroom. I’ll leave something for you to wear out here on one of the beds,” he said, stepping out. I closed the bathroom door and peeled the soaked clothes off my body.
The warm water felt great on my cold skin as I hopped in the shower.
I washed my underwear afterward and dried them out with a blow dryer I found in one of the bathroom drawers. What was I to do?
So, I didthatand walked out to the room with a towel wrapped around me and found nothing but a huge white t-shirt that was probably William’s lying on top of one of the beds.Son of a bitch.
The t-shirt fit me like a mini dress. It didn’t even cover my derrière completely, but there was nothing else for me to wear.
I looked in the closet to see if there was anything else I could wear as a bottom because there was no way in hell I would step out like that. And he knew it.
I found extra bathroom stuff for the guests and grabbed a toothbrush and a small toothpaste tube while I was at it. Three drawers awaited my inspection. They were my last hope.
Empty.
Empty.
Bingo!
A navy-blue bathrobe. It was too big for me, but it was comfy, and most importantly, it covered me a couple of inches below the knees.
I walked out of the guest bedroom—my bedroom, if I were to stay.
Should I stay?
I shouldn’t.
My body craved a glass of water. William was already in the kitchen and looked like he’d also just taken a shower. Something smelled delicious, and it was not just him for a change. But I could smell him alright.
I sniffed slowly, taking in the mix of delicious aromas, and walked up to Lily and Joel, who sat on the stools in front of William, keeping him company while he cooked dinner.
William moved with ease around the kitchen—slicing, tasting, smelling, boiling, sauteing. I got lost for a second watching him do his thing. He managed to make everything he did seem sexy, while I looked like a wet puppy (that stared a lot) in an oversized robe.
“Hey, where’d you disappear off to?” I asked Lily and Joel, taking a seat on the empty stool beside them.
“We went for a walk on the beach,” Joel replied. “We thought you needed some privacy.”
