The past forty-eight hours with Dex have been magical. I’m completely in love with the man. Neither one of us has said it. But the long glances and touches have confirmed it for me. Ithinkhe might be.

“Are you sure you don’t want to ride into the Blaze with me today? I promise I won’t finger-fuck you again in the car,” he teases me.

I flush, thinking of the way he got me off on the way home from the bookstore. I hadn’t thought about the scenes that were going to play when I started the audio book. I always read the book before I listen to it. I should have known that they were going to fuck shortly after it started. It turned me on because I was thinking about doing those things with Dex, riding him on the couch. But I didn’t dare tell him that. Maybe I should, but I can’t really ride him right now with my knee in a brace. So, I stow that away in my “plans for later” file.

“Yeah, I’m sure. The girls are going to come and get me. We’re going to get lunch after practice. Not that I wouldn’t enjoy a repeat performance of the car ride, or last night.” I flush thinking about how he rode me until I came again and again.

“If you keep on looking at me like that, you’re going to be late for practice.” The look on his face tells me that he means it.

I clench my thighs together and smirk at him. “I don’t think that you should be late to work. Especially after the little display that we put on at the Backwoods the other night. August might not take kindly to us missing things, shortly after he catches what he called our ‘public sex show.’

Dex laughs and shakes his head. “He was being dramatic about that. We were only dancing on each other. Nothing that Danny and Mac weren’t doing. Or Cassie and Jase.”

I laugh. “True. I think that because you and I are so new, he is holding us to a different standard.”

“Could be,” he remarks. “Did you happen to notice the way he kept staring at Hendrix. Makes me wonder what could happen there.”

“Nothing, absolutely nothing,” I tell him. “Hendrix would never start anything with him again. He hurt her too badly.”

Dex nods. “He was pretty torn up too. Maybe they could heal each other.”

“Oh, I highly doubt it. Hen is stubborn and she’ll never give in to him,” I say with a shake of my head.

“He was hurt too,” Dex reminds me. “Believe it or not, that man did love her. He had to make an impossible choice.”

I turn and face him, wondering if he’s telling me something here. But I try not to read too far into it. Either I don’t want to know, or I don’t want to burst our happy little bubble.

Dex comes across the living room to stand in front of me. “Hey, I’m not saying anything about you or me here. Let’s not fight about Hendrix and August. That’s not our fight or our concern.”

I nod. “I wasn’t fighting with you. Or so I didn’t think I was.”

“I swear I saw something on your face that worried me. I wanted to remind you, that that’s not us.” He leans in and kisses my forehead.

When he breaks away, I grab him behind the neck and pull him close to me. Taking his lips on mine and kissing him deeply. I want to feel him. His arms come around me, and he pulls me close to him. Our bodies align and that instant match that strikes every time we’re together like this is lit. I want him, if I could I’d climb this man like a tree. But it’s not easy with my bum knee.

He knows me so well, because he pulls me up so that our height difference isn’t in play. Holding me close him, he has us eye level so that neither of us has to strain to reach the other’s lips. I nip at his lips and beg him with my tongue for entrance, which he immediately grants. He backs us up quickly, so that my back is now against the living room wall. His hips swivel and I arch mine to meet his.

I let out a moan as his lips leave mine and begin their descent down my neck. I tilt my head back as much as I can to give him access, grinding my hips as his lips move to my breasts and bite the material of my shirt and bra. Enough that it pinches at my nipples. I cry out with pleasure. So much that I don’t even hear the door open.

“Shit! Sorry!” I hear Cassie yell.

“Dex!” I say, tapping him on the shoulder.

He pulls back and grins at me. “Sorry, I got a little carried away with you.”

I flush and grin back at him. “It’s okay, I rather enjoyed it.”

“So sorry to interrupt you guys. But we’re here to take Amelia with us to practice,” Cassie explains. “I didn’t realize that you would still be here,” she says, addressing Dex.

He slowly turns around to face my friends. “Yeah, I didn’t intend to be here, but I guess we forgot we had jobs.”

I flush and peek out from around him. “Hey, girls.”

Mac laughs. I wait for her to say, “Don’t hey me,” but she doesn’t. I’m sure that will come later. “Sorry to interrupt the two of you.”

“It’s okay.” Dex replies. He turns back to me. “Like you said, Ibetter get to the training center before August picks up that I’m late and takes issue with it.” He leans and places a quick kiss on my lips. “We’ll finish this later.”

“Can’t wait,” I tell him.
