The Blaze ended up coming out on top with a 2-1 victory, which was huge for us. I was so happy that we had cemented our spot in the playoffs. Coach had said before the game that this is the one that we needed to win in order to get there. And we did it! The Dash put up a hell of a fight, but thankfully we reigned victorious.
I’m sitting now in the team room listening to Mac praise and motivate the team.
“No one ever thought that we would be here. The fans doubted us, the press doubted us, my own boyfriend doubted us at first. But we managed to prove them all wrong. And I’m so proud of the role that each and every one of you played in this victory. Because it’s not about tonight’s game. It’s about every game that led up to this moment. I’m so proud of us and happy tocall all of you a part of my family. Now, let’s bring it I, Blaze on three.”
We all put our hands in as she counts it off and shout “Blaze!” The noise from the room is getting deafening from how excited everyone is. I take that as my cue to head out. I want to go to the training room because there is a certain PA that I am hoping to see before he leaves for the night. I want to be sure that we’re on the same page after our talk on the field.
I know where I want us to be again. The question is, does he?
The switch from hating him to missing him was so quick that I wonder if I ever actually hated him at all. As soon as I saw him, he was like a drug being injected back into my veins. The fix was \what I needed to remember that his man is not a flash in the pan. The chemistry is there, as fiery and spicy as it was on that first home game day, when he couldn’t stop staring at me.
“Hey, where are you headed so quickly?” Hendrix asks me, lightly taking my arm.
I grin at her. “There’s something that I have to take care of.”
“Oh really, are we headed to the training room?” Hendrix lightly bumps my shoulder. “Don’t think I didn’t see the way the two of you were carrying on when you were on the sidelines.”
“You were supposed to be focused on the game,” I scold her.
“I can multitask. Come on, you know how awesome I am,” she teases.
“I do.”
“I’m proud of you, by the way,” she tells me. “Now go get that man back.”
I flush at her words. “Thanks, Hen, and thanks for everything. I appreciate you.”
Leaning in, she gives me a side hug. “You batcha, anytime. Now scoot,” she says, slapping me on the ass lightly.
I shake my head. “Thanks. See ya at the bar later.”
“If you two manage to come up for air.”
“Ha ha,” I say before scooting off in search of Dex.
When I reach the training room, I see that Lucas is in there with him. I frown thinking of how I’m going to get him out of there. So, I bite the bullet and ask.
“Hey, guys,” I say as I enter the room.
“Hey,” Lucas calls out.
“Hi,” Dex replies, grinning widely at me.
“Can you give us a minute, Lucas?” I ask, standing by the door, waiting for Lucas to leave.
“Yeah, I can do that.” Lucas’s cheeks are heated with embarrassment as he rushes out of the room.
Once he’s gone I lightly close the door and turn the lock, so that no one can disturb us.
“’What are you doing?” His voice is coming out a bit raspy, so he clears his throat.
“I needed to see you,” I reply innocently as I make my way over to him.
“You needed to see me?” Dex asks, watching me.
I nod, continuing to make my way to him. When I reach him, I set my crutches to the side and place my hands up on my chest, below his shoulders. “I sure did and I needed some privacy.”
He grins at me. “I’m glad that you did. It’s good to see you.” He places his hands on my waist and quickly kisses my lips. “Why do we need privacy?”
