“Stay the night. It worksout better than sending you home and you’ll be in the area to startearly tomorrow. Some of those clients have been on the list for twoweeks.”
“We’ve had clients waitingmuch longer before.”
“We’re trying to get awayfrom that.Clients expect more and Tyne wants to give it to them.”Rita replied.
Duroc figured that meant especially theone with the big house who would probably have other places thatneeded security. He wanted Tyne’s business to do well. His boss wasthe best in many ways, but he still had to bend to the pressure ofclients that could make him a lot of money. The difference withTyne was now he would try to reach the others near this rich guy assoon as possible too.
“What did Rita say?”Bindiasked. She’d been putting up their equipment in the back of theirtruck.
“We’re to stay the nighthere and get back on the list. She’ll send more jobs if we needthem. There’s a place not far from here where we can get asuite.”
“Two bedrooms,right?”
“Sure, Sweetheart.”Durocagreed.
They went down the road to the smallluxury hotel.A suite was available for one night and he suspectedTyne’s rate was the best one they gave.Everyone that worked one ofTyne’s trucks had a personal bag for just thesecircumstances.
Their room was on the first floor andwhen he opened the door he was impressed as was Bindi. That toldhim she had never had this level of luxury or even been around it.“Which room do you want?”He asked.
“I can choose?”She lookedthrilled.
Bindi looked at one room than theother.“I’ll take this one.”She chosesaid.
“Does the jetted tub haveanything to do with it.”His mate flushed and lookedguilty,
“I don’t mind.Having youin that room will give me some sweet dreams. For now, let’s go eat. There’s a great place next door I think you’ll love.”
The two of them went to eat at anintimate restaurant that also had delicious food.Candles, flowers, and a sweet scent made him think about an amorous adventure.Hesuspected Bindi was thinking the same thing.Their food wasfabulous, the atmosphere wonderful, and his company couldn’t bebetter.Still, he knew it was too soon to try to move forward eventhough he wanted to.
“Thank you, Duroc.Thisevening had has been perfect.”Bindi smiled at him.
“Ready to go to yourroom?”
“Yes, we’ll have a busy daytomorrow.”
“You’re right. This area isa priority for Tyne.”
“I’d ask why, but I knowthat’s a secret.”
Duroc shrugged. She was right.Heescorted her to her room and then he went to his. After a long hotshower where he got some relief and got clean, he went to bed toget the rest he needed. When he woke the next morning, he knockedon Bindi’s door and she came out ready to go.They both had theirbags packed because he was sure they wouldn’t staytonight.
Had his mate found the time to take herbath?Duroc suspected she had when she just smiled. They droppedtheir bags at the truck then drove to the only other place to eatin town. This was where the only breakfast could be found. The twoof them ate a big meal even little Bindi seemed to bestarved.
“Did you enjoy your meal?”Duroc asked.
“I did.I’m ready to get onit now.”She smiled at him and his heartbeat faster. They paid andgot out of there.
The next two jobs were just average andno trouble at all. After that the jobs were harder with extrasrequested or needed for their setups. He was afraid they would runout of needed special requirements at the rate they were usingthem, but they made it through the list and headed home.Eventhough it wasn’t really home, and he was leaving for good soon, itwas good they would be there tonight.
While that made no sense, he thoughtBindi felt the same way. When they got there, Rita hurried to themand hugged them both.“Hey!What is this greeting for?”
“Your last job position wasattacked and when the police couldn’t find you, we worried that theworst had happened.Neither of you were answering your radios butwe could track you, so we waited to take action since you weregetting closer to us.”
“Damn!I’m so sorry.Thelast client didn’t want radios on around her father’s pacemaker.Iforgot we turned them off.”Duroc admitted.
“Okay, you guys go on.We’ll see you in the morning.”
They went their separate ways and hehated it.Someday, he promised to himself, he would stake his claimand they would go home together.Right now, it might be a sweetdream, but someday it would be his reality.
