“It’s Joey.She wasattacked but Naqi and the guys got there in time to preventanything serious from happening.”
“Oh, goddess.Why won’tthat woman listen to me?”
“She’s stubborn and wantsto be independent.”Joey explained.“This attack will remind herthat in situations like this, she shouldn’t go italone.”
“I hope so.Things likethis happen everywhere.”
“They had ten males.Shehad no chance because they know she had a stun gun.The pepperspray wasn’t enough to deal with all of them.”
“I hope she realizes what abad choice she made.”Duroc observed.
“Be nice to her.While theydidn’t get down to business, they did tell her what they hadplanned for her.It scared her to death.”
“I wish I could kill themall.”
“They got knocked aroundpretty good.”Joey offered.
He tried to calm himself so Bindiwouldn’t get too upset.Leaving his apartment, he hurried to Joey’sbecause he needed to see for himself that Bindi was alright.Whenhe got there, Bindi had just arrived.Holding his arms open, Bindirushed into them.Duroc pulled her in closer to give her comfort.These assholes had thrown her for a loop.
“I just need to take ashower and go to sleep.”Bindi insisted.
“Okay.Let me take care ofyou.”
Bindi nodded and he led her back to theroom she usually used.While she was in the shower, he got outsomething for her to wear and placed it on the counter in herbathroom.All he could do right now was waiting wait for her to bedone.
The door opened and she came outwearing the gown he’d gotten out for her.His mate looked sad.Shefell into his arms where he sat on the bed.Duroc took it for aninvitation and kicked off his shoes and fell back on the bedwrapped around his woman.Eventually, they fell asleep.He woke inthe morning with enough time to eat breakfast here, go home andshower and dress, and head back to the office.
Rita was giving out assignments andmatching everyone up with a partner.Bindi got a new guy that was agood fighter.This pleased him because he was worried about her.His partner was a human woman This woman seemed alright, and hewould do his best to help her adjust.
“I’m Duroc.”
“I’m Lizzy.”
“If you’re ready.Let’sload up and hit the road.”He said.After he had the truck loaded,he said goodbye to Bindi and hit the road with his newpartner.
“Have you been here long?”Lizzy asked.
“Only a few months.ButI’ve been with Tyne over a year.”
“Do you like ithere?”
“Tyne put in nice housingwhich helped.The locals are great and there are things to do, butit can be dangerous out in the snow and on the ice.”Durocadmitted.
“I heard there were somecrazies attacking people.”
“There are but it’s slowedlately.Just be careful and you should be fine.”
“Will we be partnerspermanently?”
“Probably not.Rita hasbeen switching partners out often.”
“Good to know.”
After the first day, he decided Lizzywas a good worker.Not overly outgoing, she was still friendly.Duroc wanted to know how Bindi was doing with her new partner.Assoon as they got in, he intended to check on her.Lizzy followedhim into the office.
“Bindi make it in yet?”Heasked.
