Duroc gave him his GPScoordinates.
“I’m not far.Is there anyprivacy?”
“It’s pretty quiet outhere.No close neighbors but there is a road.”
“That will do.I’ll see youin ten.”
In what was more like five minutes, aguy pulled up in what looked like a big double cab forest ranger’struck.“I’ll take a load off your hands.”Vinnieoffered.
Duroc helped him load them into hisbackseat.Vinnie waved as he took off and headed down the road.Hewas relieved to have those guys gone.Tomorrow was date night, andthis incident hadn’t helped to get his sweetheart in the properframe of mind.
Going on to finish the list, there wereno more problems.Saturday was on his mind all the way to theoffice.Moe had already told them what they needed to know and whenthey arrived, they saw why.Someone else was filling in for Moe andthey already looked like they were in over their head.Since he’dnot seen this woman before, it seemed to be sink or swim trainingand she was sinking fast.
“I’m Duroc and this isBindi.We’re here to check out.”
“Do you have yourlist?”
“We do.”He handed it toher.
“I’m Ellie and Moe is gonefor an emergency.”
“Nice to meet you.”Bindisaid and he echoed it.
They turned to leave.“Hey, do you needanything else?”Ellie asked.
“No, we’re checked outuntil Monday.”Duroc offered.
“Oh, good.Have a niceweekend.”
“You too.”Bindisaid.
A whole day off was nice and it wasnicer because he’d be spending time with her.They split to eachtake their own vehicles, but Duroc followed her.Why was he doingthat?Maybe he was trolling for a meal at Ariel’s?Everyone seemedto love eating there.
When she got there and pulled into theparking lot, Duroc was still with her.“What are you doinghere?”
“I have an appointment withAriel.”
“That’s one busy lady.”Bindi observed.
“She’s got a lot of ironsin the fire.”
“Ellie won’t last.She’snot able to keep things straight.”
“Maybe if she has moretraining?”Duroc suggested.
“I’d have to assume she hadsome.”
They got to the door and Ariel’s oldestlet them in.The scent of food permeated the house.There were fewpeople hanging around since it was a little early for supper.“Isee her.”Duroc said then he took off to let her know he wasthere.
“Let’s talk in theoffice.”
She led the way to Blake’s office andgesturedgestured that he sit in the chair across from her.“I’msure you’re wondering why I want to see you?”
“Not really.You want alake house so you can live there until you have to leave and thenit’ll make a great vacation home.”
“How did, never mind.Whatelse do you see?”Duroc asked.
