“Yes, but it’s still thebest job either of us ever had.”Rita insisted.
“Alright, just hand me mylist.”It was obvious she was unable to help him.
Ray came in before he left and greetedhim. He was paired with a mated wolf, but Duroc didn’t think heknew about it yet.Eventually, they might figure things out.Whatwould Tyne do then?Maybe he should just worry about his ownproblems? They were serious enough.
He could see Bindi and Grant loadingup. They were laughing and talking like they’d known each otherforever.“You’re wasting your time.”Tammy said as she walked up.“I don’t know why you’d want her anyway.”
“Don’t worry about me.Youhave your own issues to worry about.”Duroc said as she salivatedover Grant.Three months of working as a team and he still didn’tlike her or feel any attachment to her. This girl was not a teamplayer. He suspected she’d come here to get married and had hereyes set on Grant.
While it was true he wanted Bindi, atleast he could concentrate on his work.Tammy didn’t come anywherenear to holding up her end.She was here hunting a groom and not towork. It’s why their team did the fewest jobs of any team.Theywere told she’d been fully trained but someone must have beenslacking on that job.Tyne would have never been happy with theamount of work she did.
Duroc wasn’t happy with it either.Maybe it was time to talk to Tyne.He needed to know what Bindi wasup to.If she was going to HQ, so was he.Maybe he’d get to see hermore.Moe would help with that since she was a hopeless romantic. With her on his side, maybe he could win this battle forlove.
“What do you mean by that?I’m just fine.”Tammy insisted.
“Whatever.Let’s leave andtry to get some work done today.”
“Fine.”She was pissed butat least she was quiet.
The house when they arrived, was aplain two bedroom. These were transplants from back east.At leastthey would handle the cold months well.“I’m glad to see you. We’veheard there are some nuts running around attacking people.”Themale who answered the door said.“I’m Craig.”
“My name is Grant.Yeah,we’ve had a bit of trouble. Those guys are nuts. They are alsoviolent.According to them they hate werewolves and witches, but sofar, they hurt and killed people they’ve admitted are justhuman.”
“They can’t find theirlegendary creatures, so they kill humans instead?”
“Exactly, they are fruitloops.”Grant agreed.“This is my partner, Tammy.”
“Nice to meet you.”Craigsaid.
“Same here.”Tammysaid.
“We’d best get out our gearand get your system set in.”Duroc waved to Tammy hoping she’d tryto help more but she stood around until he glared at her then shedragged ass to the truck.
He loaded up and carried his gear whereit was needed.Setting things where they were needed, he went backto set the control box in place.Tammy was still at the truckmessing around. He worked fast to get the job done.It was nearlythere when she came back.
“Doesn’t look like you evenneeded me.”Tammy observed.
“You’re right, Idon’t.”
Now she was quiet but at the rest ofthe jobs, she tried a little.Duroc wouldn’t work with that womanagain. At least they had no problems today. They got back and hewent to his place and called Moe.
“Wolf Security andInvestigations, how may I help you?”Moe asked.
“Moe, I’m about to explode.I’ve had all of Tammy I can take. It’s not even that she doesn’tseem to know what to do.It’s that she won’t do it.”
“I didn’t like her, but weseemed short. We have some new ones nearly trained.Molliealright?”
“She works with someoneelse, so I don’t know.Everyone likes her better than Tammy.”Durocadmitted.
“Maybe she’ll workout.”
“You can give her moretime, but Tammy needs to go.”
“I hear you. You’ll beshort for about two weeks before we send a replacement.”Moeadmitted.
“What about Bindi? Is shecoming back to HQ?”
“She doesn’t want thatadvertised.”
