“Perfect. I needed a break,” Lance said, stretching and cracking his back.

They’d been sitting hunched over like prawns at the computers for too long.

The two of them slowly packed up, in no rush while the other students in the computer lab hurried to finish up whatever they were working on.

As soon as the coast was clear, Reece and Lance snuck over to a dark corner of the library. The lights were already off. The area had been cleared.

And now they played the waiting game.

They laid down side by side. Once again, Lance was a line of heat impossible to ignore.

Breaking the rules like this was more thrilling than Reece had ever anticipated. He kept checking through the gaps in the bookshelves, on high alert.

The real trick would be not falling asleep in the roughly thirty minutes they had to wait.

They couldn’t even use their phones. The light would give them away, like it had the last group that had been caught a week ago.

Reece and Lance would never be that careless.

“How much longer?” Lance whispered into the silence.

“Shh! It’s only been five minutes!” Reece whispered back.

“Ugh, I shouldn’t have chugged the last of my coffee.”

Lance tapped his feet together. His fingers drummed against his chest. His head rocked from side to side.

Lance only lasted five more minutes before he asked, “C’mon, he has to be gone now.”

“No. I think he’s being more thorough after those idiots got caught last month.”

Lance groaned. “He said he wouldn’t check this area. Oh hey, do you want to see-”

“Don’t care. We’re not risking it.”

Then Reece did the unthinkable. He yawned.

“Hey, don’t fall asleep on me.” Lance nudged Reece, bringing their bodies even closer together.

“I won’t, I won’t.”

Lance was vibrating. Reece was powering down. Not good. Reece needed to crack an energy drink or something, but the noise was sure to draw attention.

But the warm body next to him felt so good! He just wanted to curl up into it and fall asleep and - whoa! - where had that thought come from? No! Bad Reece! That’d ruin their friendship!

When was that librarian going to hurry up and leave?

“Fuck it,” Lance said. “I can’t wait any longer.”

Reece and Lance would never be that careless.

The sound of a zipper being undone filled the silence between them.

“What are you doing?” Reece hissed.

Lance had the gall to shush him. “Might as well have fun while we wait. You can watch if you want, I don’t mind.”

The leer in his voice was unmistakable.
