“No, I mean knowing that your last time fucking on this planet would be with Nadine Winters. I would have rather had a go at Lady Elaine. She at least has some spunk to her.”
I chuckle. “This may come as a surprise, but if I’m being honest, it was fucking wonderful. I haven’t stopped thinking about her since.”
“Stop! I’d rathernothave the details.”
“It’s true.”
“Maybe you should tell her then.”
“I can’t. She has Tom, and even if she didn’t, there are a lot of questions regarding why I was on that boat. Being with Nadine will only have people asking more.”
“And being with Akinyi Adebayo will make them all disappear.”
“Exactly.”
“Ya know, it’s funny how you’re a billionaire with no control over your love life.”
I nod in agreement. “I guess when you put it that way, it is rather comical.”
“Do you suppose it’s love with Nadine? Or just pent up lust?”
“I don’t know what it is. It’s entirely possible that it’s the life-or-death situation that has me so enamored.”
“I’m not so sure of that.”
I shoot Harry a dubious look. “Are you saying that you think I’m in love with Nadine?”
“I don’t know if you could call it love, exactly, but it’s something more than lust, and for you, that’s significant.”
“Just how significant?”
“You tell me. When’s the last time you thought about a woman after bedding her? I know you revisit them from time to time, but it was my assumption that it was more for convenience than anything else.”
As much as I hate to admit it, Harry is right, not that I can do anything about it. Even if the timing were perfect, it’s Tom that she wants. I was simply a means for her to let out her inner bad girl.
“I’m sure it’s nothing,” I finally say, though I’m not convinced.
“Go see her and figure it out if you’re so anxious.”
“I can’t. PR and legal told me to stay away.”
“Well, my father told me to stay away from the gardener and look where I am now.”
Harry waggles his brow, and I can’t help but laugh.
“Don’t look now, boss, but I do believe your lady love is landing.”
