Chapter 25

Nadine

We give what seems like endless statements to police and investigators before they finally let us leave the ship, telling us they need to meet with us again soon.

As we exit the boat, Eliza snakes her way in between Maxwell and me, whispering something in his ear.

I hear him mutter, “No, thank you,” and she returns with a, “You’re loss,” before walking away.

I’m overwhelmed by the urge to rush to Maxwell and feel his strong arms wrap around me.

But he’s my boss, and that would be inappropriate.

I laugh at the thought that we could ever go back to being appropriate, but we have to, and suddenly, my stomach clenches.

I don’t want to go back to our normal. I want a new normal that includes blowjob wakeup calls and brunch orgasms. How did it take me eighteen months to figure out that my boss is obscenely hot and next-level good in bed? He’s ruined me for other men with that big cock of his and oh-so skillful tongue.

Fuck me!

Two cars meet us at the dock, and when we approach, Prince Harry leaps from one and rushes towards us, embracing both Maxwell and me in a hug.

“I cannot believe Mr. Johnson was so angry you left me back at the office,” he says between sobs. “Well, serves you right!

Of course, Harry makes this about himself.

But I’m happy he does. It’s comfortable and familiar. It’s exactly what I need right now.

I throw my arms around Harry, returning the embrace.

“Security had no idea you were actually in trouble. They thought that since the gala was canceled, you decided to spend the night on the boat. I knew something was wrong though.”

“Wait, they thought we were hanging out on the boat? Even when Maxwell didn’t call or text?”

“They’re used to watching over celebrities that party hard and forget to establish communication,” Maxwell says. “I think I’m going to have to go with another contractor, though. This was negligent for what I pay them.”

“I had your cat fed,” Harry says to me.

“Gee, thanks.”

He turns to Maxwell. “Did he manhandle you? How are your tenders?”

Maxwell brings a hand up to bury his face in, and even I have to laugh.

Harry sneers in my direction. “How’d the stiff one hold up?”

“You know, I’m right here,” I gasp in offense. “You can ask me yourself.”

“Actually,” Maxwell smirks, “we wouldn’t be standing here if not for her.”

“And ironically,” I poke a finger at Harry, “you as well.”

“Me?”

“Johnson was so offended by Lady Elaine insinuating he wanted you that he overcompensated with another lady on the boat and pretended to be into her. The girl used it to distract Johnson while I freed Mike.”

“Well, now that you owe me literally everything, we can talk about a well-deserved pay raise.”

“Nadine,” Maxwell says, his hand on my shoulder.
