Although I wonder if this might be a good distraction for me. It’s been months since I’ve had sex, because the crippling depression I feel from the loss of Tessa has all but rendered me a eunuch.

It would be such an easy thing to invite Ivy to my room. She certainly looks eager enough. She might be annoying, but people become surprisingly more tolerable when they’re naked.

Still, I find nothing about her appealing. Outwardly, she’s beautiful, but she falls far short of inspiring me, intellectually or otherwise.

Lance’s words echo in my mind. I ripped Tessa’s heart out, and I don’t think he was exaggerating.

“So what is your dating life like, Mr. Savage?”

It takes me a moment to realize I’m not alone.

“Dating life?” I notice another button has come undone. This woman is good.

“An attractive, successful man like yourself certainly has options.”

She’s right about that. Everywhere I go, women compete for my attention. But there’s only one that I care about, and knowing that she felt the same way about me and I cast her aside so carelessly, makes me realize Lance is indeed right: I am a douche.

I pull out my phone and enter into Tessa’s text box, hoping that I can undo the damage.

Atticus:I need to see you.

“Mr. Savage, about those options…”

I look up to see that Ivy has shed her blouse, revealing a pair of lovely breasts that could easily tame a man.

But not me.

My phone vibrates.

Tessa:No thanks. I know how that goes, and the last thing I want is to be an itch you need to scratch.

Atticus:I was a fool before. Just give me a chance to explain.

Undeliverable.

She blocked me.

My insides feel hollowed. Completely wrecked.

My eyes scan up to Ivy, who is the kind of woman that would never say no to a man like me.

“I’d love to show you my playground, Mr. Savage.” She slowly spreads her legs, her skirt creeping up her thighs.

She’s the perfect distraction. Someone to make my head right again. To make me forget the folly of love I’d held on to so strongly.

But I don’t want to let go. Not of love. Not ofher.

“Ivy, as attractive as you are, I’m going to have to decline your offer.”

She frowns, her cheeks flushing red.

“But that doesn’t mean you’re going to leave my penthouse empty-handed. Do you recall two months ago when a video was leaked from the Playground? I was wearing an iridescent alien getup.”

She smirks. “I’m quite familiar with that video.”

“Good, because I have something else I need leaked…”
