Parker answers the phone on the very first ring. “Boss.”

“Any updates?” I ask, my gaze drifting back to the cabin, wanting to make sure Isabelle isn’t within earshot.

“Two point four million dollars is scheduled to be transferred Thursday morning at 9 AM. The withdrawal will be distributed from your Caymans account.”

“Will the funds be traceable?” I question, my tone low.

“No.”

“Good. Let me know the particulars once it’s been processed.”

“Will do.” His tone is as flat as his personality.

“Parker.”

“Yes, Boss.”

“I want to be there when it’s done. I want to make sure it’s handled right.”

My request is met with silence.

“Boss—”

“No, Parker. It was not a request; I'll be there,” I interrupt before I disconnect the call, not giving him a chance to reply.

The chilly winter day makes the hairs on my arms bristle as I stride down the three stairs at the front of the cabin. I head to the garage attached to the sidewall while dialing another memorized number into the satellite phone.

“Everything alright?” Hugo questions.

“Yes. Isabelle and I will be leaving the cabin shortly. I want you to have Roger or Hunter scan her apartment again before we arrive.”

“Shouldn’t you be instructing Hunter, since he is your head of security?” Hugo interrupts.

“Was. That title is negotiable at the moment. Have Isabelle’s apartment scanned and update the security personnel in her building. Tell them no one, not even if they have police credentials, is allowed access to her floor without first running it through me,” I instruct sternly.

“Alright,” Hugo replies, his voice reserved. “What time are you arriving?”

My gaze lifts to the sky. “We should be there around 4 PM if the rain holds off. I’ll drop Isabelle into the underground garage of her apartment building. Until Regan gets the IA’s case dropped, Isabelle and I can’t be seen together.”

“Alright. I’ll wait for Izzy in the hallway of her apartment at four.”

I cough to clear my throat. “Isabelle is unaware of the surveillance camera that was in her apartment. I want it to remain that way. She has enough issues to handle at the moment without me adding any more.”

“I understand,” Hugo replies coolly. “Won’t say a peep.”

“You stay with Isabelle during the day, and I’ll take the nights. I don’t want her left alone. She is still rattled about what she witnessed yesterday.”

“Okay, that’s understandable; it was pretty horrific.”

The small void of silence is filled when Hugo coughs nervously. “Is Izzy aware of the circumstances that led to your arrest yet?”

My jaw tenses. “No. And I trust since I made you privy to that information, it will remain that way until I decide otherwise.”

“I'd never say anything, Isaac. I just know Izzy would prefer to hear it from you than another source,” Hugo interrupts.

“I plan on telling her when the timing is right.Nowis not the right time.” My tone indicates this is not up for further discussion. “I'll see you in a few hours.”

I'm lowering the satellite phone down from my ear when I hear Hugo say, “Boss, before you go.”
