Say what?“You’re kidding,” I whispered.
“I’m not. And now that you’re here and we can—”
“We can’t do anything,” I stated. “First of all, our clients are here, and second of all, they aren’t the only clients we have together. It’s unethical, and we could get ina lotof trouble.”
Attorneys could date each other, but they couldn’t be opposing counsels and there were steps they needed to do like tell the judge and withdraw from the cases they were on together.
“That’s where you’re wrong. We’re in a different world here. Anything that happens behind these walls is confidential. Nothing leaves this house.Ever.”
Was he serious?Being at this elite party was definitely a different world. A world where no one had inhibitions. A world where no one cared if people stopped and watched, and where no one cared if you had a crazy fetish. Everything wasnormal.
“I don’t know what I want,” I confessed, thinking about what Jason had asked me. Jason, the man I’d lusted after for years because he was the hot, untouchable celebrity. Now he wasn’t so unobtainable, and I also had a man who irritated me to no end wanting me. There was also the guy at home who only wanted me for sex. And Clint probably wanted me for sex too. Thinking about it, they all did. I wasnottelling Lorelei she was right and I had men fawning over me.
Which one didIwant, though?
It seemed I would have to make a decision quickly. I turned my head to see Jason walking toward us. I swallowed. Booker turned in the same direction, and I waited for the pissing contest to re-commence.
Do I stay?
Do I go?
Do I run far, far away?
Jason was within a few feet of us when Booker grabbed my chin, turned it back to face him, and then his lips crashed upon mine. I stopped breathing, not believing what was happening. His hand skimmed down the front of my neck slowly—like a drop of water sliding down a window. The light touch caused goosebumps to rise on my silky skin, and a shiver went through my entire body. His tongue traced my lower lip, and I opened for him. I didn’t know why. I thought I’d be against this manevertouching me, let alone kissing me.
But I wasn’t.
His tongue slid in…
Tasting.
Sucking.
Savoring.
As he started to suck on my tongue, a fire erupted from within. Before I knew what was happening, my arms wrapped around his neck and I pulled him tighter. We were flush. No air could get between us. His short beard rubbed against my cheek as our mouths fused together. I wanted more.
So much more.
“Christ,” he muttered as he pulled his head back after long seconds. “I thought you’d be as cold as your last name, but I was wrong. You’re hot like a fucking devil.”
My eyes fluttered open at his words. “You think I’m the devil?” I asked, and then noticed Jason was staring at us.
Booker either didn’t see or didn’t care because he didn’t look at him. “Yeah, I do. A devil that has tempted me for so long. And now that I’ve had a taste, I’m not going to stop.”
My eyes cut to Jason.Should I choose the one who tempts my body, or the one who tempts my soul?
Booker turned his head finally. “Do you want him too?”
“I… I—”
“I don’t like the way he looks at you, and I’m not into the same things as he.”
What the hell did that mean?
“What things?” I asked, looking at Jason as he leaned against the wall, arms crossed across his chest about ten feet from us. “And how does he look at me? I just met him.”
“For starters, if you want to be with two men, I’m not the one to join you.”
