“Good luck with that. I’m not sure I could pass any test regarding U.S. History or Constitutions.”

“You’ll help me study, right?”

I walked around the bar and kissed his cheek. “Of course.”

“Good. Go get naked. I’ll be a few minutes.”

I turned to walk to my bedroom, and he swatted my ass, causing me to jump in shock. “One of these days, baby.”

I chuckled as I walked over to my coffee table to grab the remote and turn off the TV.

“Oh,” I said, grabbing my open laptop. “How do you feel about Yosemite?”

He turned to slightly face me. “Yosemite?”

“Yeah, I thought that maybe for Christmas break we could rent a cabin or something.”

I saw his chest rise as he sighed. “I’ve been meaning to tell you, but with everything going on, it slipped my mind.”

“What?” I asked as I shut the laptop and put it back on my table.

“My mum and dad are coming for Christmas.”

“From Leeds?” I asked. Of course from Leeds. That’s where they live.

He nodded. “Yeah. I usually go there, but with the promotion on the line, they wanted to come here.”

“Oh,” I breathed, and realized that meant Booker wouldn’t be at my place for however long they were in town. My eyes met his. “How long will they be here for?”

“They get in on the twentieth and leave on the twenty-eighth. I told them I have plans for New Year’s, so they decided to return home before then.”

“What plans?” I asked.

“The club, baby. They host a party every year. This year it’s perfect since it’s on a Saturday. Usually, if it falls on a different day of the week, they just switch the party to that date.”

“Right. I need to join.”

He smiled. “Yes, you do.”

Booker stood and started toward the sink. “Go get in bed. I’m on my way.”

After I’d stripped off my clothes, I climbed beneath the sheets and waited for him. When he came into the room, I asked, “So I won’t see you for seven or eight days?”

“You think I’d let that happen?” he asked as he started to remove his tie.

“So you’ll still come here?”

He shook his head and tossed his shirt onto the floor. “No, you’ll stay with me at my place.”

I blinked. “But… Carrie.”

He undid his pants and then stepped out of them. “My parents don’t know I’m married.”

“Are you serious?” I asked, my brows drawn in. “How?”

“I’ve never told them,” he stated as he slid under the covers.

“How do younottell your parents something like that?”
