I’d never shared my love life with them. They knew I was married to a firefighter and had two children, but we usually talked about them, not me, or TV shows or weekend plans—nothing intimate. I stared at the three women for a brief moment and decided to ask them. Maybe I needed womanly advice. Maybe they would have suggestions on how to get out of my rut with my husband. I’d tried candles, a nice dinner, massages, but it was all temporary. I wanted something that would make Ward crave me—something where he couldn’t keep his hands off of me.

I wanted to feel desired again.

I took a deep breath and admitted, low, “I’m just trying to think of ways to spice up my marriage.”

Everyone’s eyes widened. “Okay, I had to admit I wasn’t expecting that,” Lorelei said after a few moments.

“Yeah, things are just … the same. Know what I mean?” I stabbed at the lettuce in my bowl.

Peyton and Lorelei shared a look as Eve said, “I haven’t had sex in a month. I’m sure you’re getting it more than I am.”

I shrugged slightly. “I am. Just—”

“It’s not wall banging,” Lorelei stated.

“Yeah,” I affirmed. “Though we have kids, so I’m not really looking for wall banging. I just want …”

“Want more than the same old, same old?” Peyton asked.

“Yeah.”

“Guys like roleplaying. Have you dressed up as a sexy nurse or something?” Eve inquired.

I felt my face flush slightly. “Yes, I have before.”

“And?” she questioned.

“Again, it was temporary. I don’t want temporary. I want to have to make him keep his hands off of me when he’s not on shift. We’re too young to be going through this.”

Ward and I met while he was in the fire academy and I was in law school. I was twenty-three and not looking for a relationship when, one night, he walked into the bar I was at. The moment my gaze met his, my young heart fell in love with the twenty-five-year-old hottie, and I was done for. Ward and I were inseparable after that night. We got married a year after I graduated from law school, and we started our family two years later. He was the first and only man I’d ever truly loved with my entire heart.

Peyton and Lorelei shared a look again.

“What about a romantic getaway?” Eve suggested.

“We went to Aspen for Christmas break. Our kids were with us, but it was sort of romantic because we had a fireplace in our bedroom. It was nice while we were there.”

Peyton and Lorelei shared a lookagain.

“If you two would stop doing that.” I pointed my fork at both of them.

Peyton held up her hands. “We may know what will work.”

“Okay, I’m listening.” I leaned forward and rested an elbow on the table.

They sharedanotherlook before Peyton leaned forward as well. She lowered her voice. “Have you ever heard of Sensation?”

My brows arched. “Sensation?”

Lorelei leaned forward and lowered her voice too. “It’s a sex club.”

I choked on air and stared at them before taking a sip of my water to clear my throat. “A what?”

“Well”—Peyton smiled—“it’s by invitation only.”

“What does that mean?” I questioned.

Peyton grinned. “Booker and I are members of an exclusive sex club that has parties once a month for all membership levels.”
