“All right.”
I kissed him one last time before I turned and walked to the car, and Slate closed his door.
It was going to be a long fucking week.
CHAPTER NINE
Slate
Ifelt like a different man. I supposed I was in a sense.
After Vaughn left, I went back to sleep for a few more hours before I needed to get up to head to the park. Lying in bed, I thought about what had happened. I thought I would be nervous—especially with an experienced guy—but I wasn’t. He put me at ease with his encouraging words and the fact that he seemed to be enjoying himself too. I was also happy that it had happened with a man who respected me enough to know that I wanted it all to be kept a secret. The CD being hidden, and how he kissed me goodbye by blocking me from view, showed me that he was understanding of me and what coming out would mean.
I wasn’t sure how Vaughn and I would keep up a secret relationship since I was on the road from April until October, depending on how far we went in the season. Plus, I assumed he would be touring eventually, and not just at baseball stadiums.
I grabbed my phone off of my nightstand and hit the button to call Leigh. I had to tell her about Vaughn and me. While some wouldn’t kiss and tell, she’d been my biggest supporter.
“Hey! What’s up?” she answered. “I’m just about to go to hair and makeup.” Leigh was filming a legal drama TV show called“Esquire”that was due to premiere in the fall.
I took a deep breath. “So … I have news.”
“Yeah?”
My lips tipped up as I thought about Vaughn. “Remember the guy I hung out with at Sensation?”
“Yeah?”
“He came over last night.”
“Shut up!” she boomed. “Tell me everything.”
“Well … you know.”
There was a pause. “You did?”
I grinned. “I did.”
“Tell me everything,” she repeated.
“I’m not going into details, Leigh.”
“Aw … come on!”
“I just wanted to tell you that I finally lost my V-card.”
“I’m so happy for you.”
“Thanks, honey.”
“But, seriously, was it good?”
“Of course.”
“Not of course. First time for me wasn’t good. That shit hurt at first.”
“Well, it might when I bottom.”
“You were top?”
