“Hey.” He beamed.

“Having a good night?” she asked.

“Hoping it gets better.” He looked at me, and I smiled at him. “And you two?”

“We just got here,” I replied.

“It’s his first time,” Leigh informed him, and I turned and gave her awhat the fucklook. Because seriously, what the fuck?

“Oh yeah?” he asked.

Thankfully, the line moved, and I ordered a shot of vodka and a Moscow Mule, needing the alcohol to get into my system fast.

I turned around, and he was grinning at me. “Yeah, I’d say it’s your first time.”

If he only knew to what extent.

Before either Leigh or I could reply, another man walked up, and Leigh’s face brightened. She wrapped her arms around his neck and started to talk in a sophisticated voice. “Jasper, darling. It’s so good to see you again.”

“You too, honey.”

The hottie with the man bun and I shared a look. While he ordered a drink, Leigh said to me, “Are you okay?”

I looked at Jasper and then back to Leigh, realizing that she was asking if I was okay for her to leave me. “Yes, go. I’ll be fine.”

Leigh kissed my cheek, and then Jasper took her hand, leading her away. We hadn’t been at the place for more than ten minutes, and Leigh was already leaving me, throwing me in the pool and hoping I swim and not drown.

I took a few steps away from the bar, letting others order drinks. My gaze went to two guys on a couch near a window.

“Well, that answers one of my questions.”

I looked up to see the hottie take a sip of his beer. “One of your questions?”

“If you two were together.”

“Oh.” I nodded. “Best friends, actually.”

“You came to the club with your best friend to … have her leave you?”

“Not like we were going to sleep with each other.”

“Would you if she wanted to?”

I took a sip of my ginger vodka drink. “She wanted to when we were dating in high school.”

“And you didn’t?” His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

I swallowed, remembering that we’d signed NDAs and whatever I told this guy would stay behind the closed doors of the mansion. But could I tell this stranger that I was gay? He would be the fourth person to know. As I looked up at the man of my dreams, I wanted to tell him. It would be a way for me to know if he batted for the same team as me,and I didn’t mean on the Diamondbacks.

“Nope. It was a test to see if I was gay.”

“And are you?”

I took a long sip of my drink before responding, “Yes.”

He grinned. “Good to know.”

My stomach dropped. Was he gay? “And you?”
