“Listen to me, Slate.” Vaughn stepped forward and cupped my face with both hands, making me look up into his eyes. “I don’t want to be with anyone else. I fucking love you, andonlyyou. I think about you 24/7, and I’m racking up airline miles just to be with you. Withyou, Slate. Not some woman. Not Kiera and Ward.You.”

“You love me?” I asked, making sure I’d heard him correctly and I wasn’t making shit up in my head.

“Yes.”

“I love you too.” I’d known that I’d loved him since the night I fucked him for the first time. I thought that it was because I’d finally gone all the way with a guy, but the more we got to know each other, and the more time we spent together, I knew it was real and not my lust-filled bubble that I thought I was in.

“That makes me happy, babe. Can I kiss you now, and then we go up to my room?”

I looked over his shoulder at the large house. I had no desire to step foot in there again. Sensation wasn’t for me. “No.”

“No? I thought—”

“I don’t want to go back in there.”

“Then what do you want to do?”

“Honestly, I want to go to your place, lock the door so your friends don’t see me there, pretend like you’re not home if they show up, and just be with you all night like we are when we’re at my place. Then tomorrow, before my game, I want to cancel my membership.”

Vaughn dropped his hands from my face and took a step back. “You want to cancel your Sensation membership?”

I blew out a breath. “Yes. I thought this was for me, but now that we’ve spent time together outside of the club, I don’t need it. I just need you.”

“All right. Then let’s go do all that.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really. I only need you too. I’ll cancel my membership tomorrow.”

“Wait.” I furrowed my brows. “I’m not asking you to do that.”

“I know you’re not, but I don’t need this anymore.” He waved his arm in the direction of the house.

“Please don’t do this because you think it’s what I want.”

“I’m not, Slate. I promise.”

“Okay.”

He smiled. “Now, can I kiss you and take you back to my place where I can fuck you all night?”

I grinned up at him. “Yes.”

EPILOGUE

Slate

Ten Months Later …

Even though my team lost and didn’t make it to the World Series, I was still a winner when it came to Vaughn.

After the season ended, we went to Hawaii on vacation for a week. Back on the mainland, we spent every night and day together at my place or his depending on if he had band stuff or I had to be in Arizona for spring training.

Another season was in full swing, and while I had home games, Vaughn was in Arizona. Respectfully, he hadn’t told his bandmates about me, but they knew he was dating someone and they weren’t allowed to show up at his place unannounced.

I did, however, meet Ward and Kiera one night. They came to Flirting with Fire’s release party for their second album, and I wasn’t sure if they knew exactly who I was, but I’d caught them occasionally watching Vaughn and me talk, and I felt as though they knew. They were a happily married couple like Vaughn had said, and it showed. They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other and smiled as though they were newly dating.

Over the past ten months, Vaughn and I had gotten even closer, and the more time I spent with him, the more I wasn’t ashamed or scared of who I was. I was a man in love with another man, andI was a baseball player.
