"But I hired him to go," I reminded her.

She shrugged. "So? Fate is tricky like that."

"Well, it doesn't matter because he's a professional escort, and him falling in love with a client is impossible."

"It's only impossible if it isn't the right woman."

"Well, I'm not the right woman."

"From what you said earlier, you two had amazing chemistry."

We sat back down on the couch, the thought of ordering food forgotten. "He was just doing his job."

"Tell me about your goodbye when you got back to Vegas."

"Well"—I bit my lip—"I stayed at his place the first night since I didn't have a key."

"Shut. Up." She slapped my arm. "You really think if he didn't have feelings for you, he'd let you know where he lives?"

"I—"

"And let me guess, you shared his bed with him?"

"I—"

"If you tell me that he cooked you breakfast the next morning, I will literally shit myself right now."

"He didn't."

"Oh." Her shoulders sagged.

"But he wanted to. He just didn't have any food."

"Ash, my dear best friend in the whole entire world, are you—and I ask this with all my love—are you fucking blind?"

"Just because I stayed over and he offered to make me breakfast, doesn't mean he's in love with me."

"No." Adriane shook her head. "But it could mean that he likes you."

I closed my eyes and sighed. "Does it matter? He said goodbye, and I bet he's outworkingas we speak. He's not here professing his love for me."

She thought for a moment, and then once again, her eyes widened. "I have the best idea."

"Oh, God," I groaned. "I'm not hiring him again."

"No. I have a better idea."

"And what's that?"

Adriane grinned. "Come with me to Dr. McKenna's baby shower."

I drew my head back. "What?"

"Next weekend she's having her baby shower. It's a co-ed one, so her husband andhisfriends are going to be there."

"I'm not crashing her baby shower."

"It won't be crashing."
