Once Amore was done, and I’d picked up his shit and thrown it in the dumpster, we walked back to my apartment. Frankie and Lucy were still on the phone, so I took the time to heat the food I’d bought.

Everything had gone as planned on the LAPD end of things, but my captain mentioned I needed to look up the gun laws in Canada, and a quick search on the internet when I’d gotten back to my car had let me know I couldn’t carry a firearm in Canada. When I’d agreed to be Frankie’s bodyguard, it never occurred to me I wouldn’t be able to carry a gun. Did Ineeda gun to keep her safe? I hadn’t had to use one the night before, even though my instinct had been to shoot the fucker.

“Lucas,” I heard my sister shout. “Come to the phone.”

I left the Chinese takeout containers on the counter before walking to the living room and sitting next to Frankie. “What’s up?”

“You’ll be getting an invitation in the mail, but I wanted to officially invite both of you to my baby shower.”

“Yeah, I don’t think I can make it.” I chuckled.

Frankie nudged me playfully. “Don’t listen to him.”

“If you don’t come, little brother, I will never speak to you again,” Lucy chastised.

“I’m just messing with you. Of course, we’ll come.”We’ll come. Lucy had invited Frankie and me. Saying the words as though we were a couple wasn’t freaking me out, but it felt weird jumping from one relationship with Candace into another one with Frankie.

But again, it was Frankie, who I’d always wanted.

We hung up with Lucy, and I asked Frankie, “Are you okay that she knows we’re together?”

“She was going to find out sooner than later.”

“True.”

“But do you think it’s too soon for us to start dating?” she questioned.

My eyes widened. “Do you?”

“I mean, you just broke up with Candace.”

“And that relationship was never going anywhere.”

“I know, but you literally just broke up with her.”

I grabbed her hand. “Do you think you’re a rebound or something?”

“I …” She hesitated.

“Hey.” I cupped her cheek. “You were the one who got away, and now that we’re back in each other’s lives, I’m not letting you go again.”

“Promise?” she whispered.

I leaned forward and kissed her softly. “With my whole heart.”

Frankieand I relaxed on the couch while watching TV. It felt good to be free of my relationship with Candace when I was next to Frankie. Though, I hadn’t kissed her since earlier in the day.

I’d called Savior to let him know I needed to take the month off from Sensation. He had no problem with it.

“Do you want to have another cooking lesson or go out for dinner?” I asked.

“What do you want to cook?” she asked.

“I don’t know.” I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge to see what I had inside, which wasn’t much. I usually shopped on my days off, but I hadn’t had the chance. I opened the freezer. “Looks like I need to go to the store.”

“I can have something delivered,” Frankie offered.
