“Had tickets to the Rockets game.”
“And you didn’t invite me?” I knew he was lying, but I had to pretend everything was fine.
I gave the signal to come over.
“Since when are sports your thing?” he challenged.
“I’ve been known to go to a Cowboys game.”
Brody threw his head back, laughing, but before he could say anything further, the officers approached.
“Mr. Murphy?”
“Yes?”
“I’m Officer Simon, and this is Officer Rolland. We need you to come down to the station.”
“What is this about?” I feigned ignorance. They ignored me.
“Yeah, what’s this about?” Brody questioned.
“We’re taking you in for questioning regarding the assault of Molly Klein.” Officer Rolland stated, pulling out handcuffs.
I hadn’t thought they were arresting him, but I kept my mouth shut.
“Who?” Brody asked.
“You need to come with us,” Officer Simon said. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.”
Brody stood and said to me, “I’ll call you.”
“All right.” I didn’t want to tell him I wouldn’t answer.

“Are you going to be okay?”I asked Molly as I sat on the edge of her bed.
She nodded.
“I hate that I have to leave you.” It was the first day of practice, and I couldn’t miss it, but at the same time, I knew what she was going through. She had been there for me after Brody attacked me.
“I understand.”
Molly was examined at the hospital the night of her assault while Eddie went to take down Brody. He was officially arrested after the rape kit was rushed, and from what Molly told us, she had fought back and was certain his DNA was under her nails. The police pulled the security footage from the hotel and saw everything they needed, so they could obtain more evidence for a solid case.
Eddie had stayed the night with us, having his assistant drive my car from Dallas the following morning. Instead of spending the night again, he took the jet back to Dallas to gather everything they had for Brody’s fake profiles.
“Let me call your—”
“No, no one can know.”
“People are going to find out, Molls.”
She rose and turned to me. “So, now you’re okay with it? You didn’t want to come forward.”
“We talked about this the other night,” I reminded her. “I’m going to make a report too.”
