“Name is Declan Rivers,” Jones responded. “He arrived while we were setting up last night after Mr. Donnelley returned home from his father’s speech. According to our quick background check, Mr. Rivers attends law school with Mr. Donnelley.”
I’d pegged Fallon as a flirt, and I doubted a study partner would be leaving in the morning. Was he dating his classmate? A pang of jealousy hit me as I realized I might have to witness him hooking up with other people.
Why did that bother me so much?

FALLON
After my dadwas declared the winner of the presidential election, I was hyped. I wasn’t quite ready to go home, but it was almost closing time at the bars and clubs. So, when everyone was leaving after my father’s speech, I texted Declan. We went to school together and had a standing Friday night Netflix-and-chill thing going on. It was a great way to relieve the stress of being a second-year law student at Hawkins Law. We both knew what we were doing was merely fucking, and we were okay with that.
He replied:
It’s Tuesday
And I want to fuck
All right. You don’t need to twist my arm. I’ll be right over
With one last glance at Agent Davis, I left Boston Common.
Declan showed up about thirty minutes after I arrived at my condo. We fucked, we got off, and passed out. When we woke to my seven thirty alarm, he left so he could get ready for school. I was tempted to skip class since I’d only gotten a few hours of sleep, but missing even one day would set me behind, and I didn’t want the added stress.
After a quick cup of coffee, I headed to the bathroom for a shower. Just as I was almost to my living room there was a knock on my door. Looking through the peephole, I found the man I thought I’d never see in my condo—even though I’d fantasized about it a few times—standing on the other side.
I raked my hands through my disheveled hair, licked my lips, and opened the door. To my surprise, Agent Davis was dressed in a light gray sweater and jeans, and he wasn’t alone. Why was he in street clothes? Not that I was complaining because he looked good enough to eat.
After a quick perusal of Agent Davis, who was staring at my bare torso, my gaze flicked to Agent Tanner’s, another man I knew from my father’s security team, and I greeted them. “Gentlemen.”
“Good morning, Mr. Donnelley. May we come in?” Agent Tanner asked.
I eyed Agent Davis for any clue as to what was happening, but he adverted his stare. “Sure.” I stepped to the side and let them pass.
Agent Tanner turned to face me as I shut the door. “We know it’s early, but we need to speak with you regarding your security detail.”
My shoulders sagged slightly because I knew they would show up eventually; I just didn’t think it would happen so early in the damn morning. With my father elected to the presidency, our family’s lives were all about to change.
While I wouldn’t be living at the White House with my mom and dad, I was aware I would have bodyguards with me. My brother wasn’t going to like it much, given he frequented underground poker clubs weekly, if not daily. My sister probably wasn’t going to be thrilled being shadowed either, since she enjoyed going to clubs to hook up with guys. Hell, who was I kidding? I wasn’t going to like it either.
Unless, of course, Agent Davis being in my condo meant he was going to be assigned to me.
I could have fun with him.
Hopefully, in more ways than one.
“Sure, but I need to get to class,” I replied.
“We’re aware of your schedule, sir. Agent Davis will accompany you to school.”
My eyes found Agent Davis’, and I hid the smile tugging at the corners of my mouth because whatever was happening meant I was about to see a lot more of him, and that sent a little tingle of excitement through my body. “What do you mean he’s accompanying me to school?”
“I’ll be sitting in your classes with you.” There was no hint of enthusiasm in Agent Davis’ tone. He probably had his sights set on continuing with my father’s detail, and what Secret Service agent wouldn’t want to protect the president? I guess I couldn’t blame him, but the elation I had felt about him being there for me took a slight blow.
“Okay …” I waited for more to be said and realized that was why he was in street clothes and not the black suit he usually wore. Like the one Agent Tanner was wearing.
Agent Tanner continued taking the lead. “We know you need to get ready, but we wanted to come next door and—”
I balked. “Next door?”
