“Don’t joke about it, okay?”
“Okay.” I nodded.
“I’m going to talk to Finnegan’s agents, but you should also speak with your brother. If he really does owe that guy money, he needs to pay his debts before this gets out of hand,” Rhett stated.
I didn’t think Finn would pay, given my brother had asked me for money. Instead, I said, “Yeah, I’ll tell him.”
“Good.” Rhett pulled out his cell.
I turned back to the table and placed my bet as I said to Tyler, “Sorry about that.”
“Don’t be.” He clapped my shoulder. “I can’t wait to tell Hayden I saw the Secret Service in action.”
I snorted a laugh. “It was hot, huh?”
“Hell, yeah.”
Rhett looked up from his phone, clearly listening to our conversation, and gave me a flirtatious smile. My heart skipped a beat.
I don’t know when it happened, but I realized I’d fallen in love with Agent Rhett Davis.

RHETT
The Mondayafter Tyler’s bachelor party, we flew to Washington, D.C., because President Donnelley was hosting the first state dinner of his presidency, and he wanted his family in attendance.
Walking the halls of the White House was surreal. Only a few months prior, I had believed I would be working there while protecting the president. I hadn’t expected to be reassigned to Fallon, nor did I ever imagine falling for him. Any disappointment I’d felt when I was informed I’d be staying in Boston was long gone, and I was starting to believe fate had intervened and brought us together.
I received a text from Fallon:
Can you come to my room?
On my way
I headed in his direction, passing a couple of agents on duty along the way, and knocked on the door of the guestroom in the Residence where Fallon was staying.
“Come in,” he called out.
“Everything okay?” I asked as I stepped into the room and shut the door behind me.
Fallon stood in the middle of the room looking hotter than sin in his black tuxedo, which highlighted his well-developed arms and chest. I couldn’t help but stare.
As he walked closer to me, my eyes flicked up, and I saw the intensity in his gaze. He stopped when we were toe-to-toe, wrapped a hand around the back of my neck, and crushed his lips to mine. The kiss sent sparks of electricity through my entire body.
When we pulled away to catch our breaths, he leaned his forehead against mine. “I wanted to do that now because I don’t think we’ll get another chance the rest of the night.”
“I’m not sure that was a good idea.”
He took a step back. “Why not?”
“Because it was already going to be nearly impossible to keep my hands off you, looking as gorgeous as you do.” I ran my hands down his chest. “But now I’ll be spending the rest of the night thinking about your mouth and all the other things you can use it for besides kissing.”
“I really wish we had more time to explore that, but I’m supposed to meet the president of France in about five minutes.” He winked.
“I know, baby boy.” I straightened his bowtie. “Let’s go join your family.”
Fallon reached for his phone, and I shook my head.
