Traffic wasa nightmare as the bus took us back to the hotel. If we’d had a night game, I was certain we would have had to ring in the new year on the bus. But luckily, once we won, we all hustled to get out of there quickly. I sent a text to Ford.

On our way. Are you back at the hotel?

He replied a few seconds later.

Yep

Me: Did you eat?

I had a hot dog at the game

Can you order me a burger from room service? We all skipped the post-game food so we could head out. I’m starving. Order something for yourself too if you want

Ok no problem

Thanks baby

The bus finally pulled up to the hotel, and I practically sprinted off, eager to see him.

The lobby was packed with people, but unexpectedly, my eyes found Ford’s as he waited near the front desk. He smiled as I approached, and without a word, I pulled him into me.

“Why are you down here in the lobby?”

“Couldn’t wait to see you.”

“I couldn’t wait to see you either,” I mumbled against his ear, my breath causing him to shiver. I didn’t care who saw because none of it mattered. All that did was the man before me.

“We have about thirty minutes until the burgers should arrive.”

I grinned. “All right. I know exactly what we can do while we wait.”

“Coop!” I heard Butcher shout. I turned to see him striding toward us. “Who do we have here?”

“Butcher, this is my boyfriend, Ford. Ford, my pain-in-the-ass friend, Butcher.”

The two guys shook hands as Butcher said, “I’m not really a pain in the ass. This guy loves me.”

I chuckled, giving Butcher a playful shove, and teased, “Well, he’s grown on me, like a fungus.”

Butcher smirked. “Right, but you wouldn’t score goals without me.”

I snorted a laugh. “Yeah, okay. Keep telling yourself that.”

Butcher smiled wider. “I’m joking. We all know Coop is the best there is, but hey, I’m glad to meet you, Ford. I didn’t know Coop was dating someone, but it makes me happy.”

Ford grinned. “Thank you and it’s nice to meet you too, Butcher.”

“We’re gonna head up to our room,” I announced, not wanting to be too public with our affection. “Catch you later.”

Butcher nodded, seeming to understand, and slapped me on the back. “All right, you two. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”

Ford and I shared a laugh as we made our way to the elevator. The doors opened immediately, and we stepped inside. The moment they closed, I turned to him, a naughty glint in my eyes.

“Now, about that thing we can do while waiting for the burgers,” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck.

He raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk forming on his lips. “Oh, do tell.”

The elevator dinged, signaling our arrival on our floor. “You’ll see.”
