“All right. Well, hop in, and I’ll drive you over there.”

Since it was late, it only took a few minutes to get to our building.

“Thanks for the ride, Coop.” Kaylee squeezed his shoulder as she slipped out of the back seat.

“No problem,” he replied and then turned to me. “You coming over tonight?”

“Do you want me to?”

He gave me a look that said I was being an idiot.

“Fine.” I rolled my eyes playfully. “Good thing I already packed a bag.”

He laughed as I closed the door and then took off.

Walking Kaylee to her car, I said, “I hope you had a good time tonight.”

She nodded. “I did. Who knew hockey was so much fun to watch?”

“I didn’t until I started dating Coop.”

“Well, anytime you want some company at a game, I’m your girl.”

“Sounds good.” I hugged her. “I’ll see you tomorrow bright and early.”

“Ugh. Don’t remind me,” she groaned as she got into her car.

I wasn’t parked too far away, so I climbed into my car and waited to leave until she pulled out of her spot. Following her out of the parking garage, we headed in separate directions. She went toward her apartment and I headed toward the man waiting for me.

“So,your boyfriend is one of the best men at your ex’s wedding?” Kaylee shoved a handful of popcorn into her mouth.

“Yep. He’s the best man for the guy marrying my ex.”

Coop had left for Tyler and Hayden’s wedding earlier in the day, and because I didn’t want to sit at home all evening by myself, I invited Kaylee over for a movie night.

“And you were okay with him going without you?”

I took a sip of my soda. “It’s not like I wanted to go. Talk about awkward.”

“Sure.” She nodded. “But Coop just got home from a road trip, and he’ll be leaving again next week.”

“You seem to know a lot about the Bruins’ schedule. Why is that?” I questioned playfully.

She looked down at the bowl on her lap. “I’ve caught a couple of games on TV.”

“Any specific player you’ve been watching?”

“All of them.” She shrugged, and her cheeks took on a pink hue. “How the hell do you handle being surrounded by all those guys? They’re all super-hot.”

I shrugged. “Well, I’m dating the hottest one, so I don’t really notice the others.”

“Lucky you.” She chuckled. “But seriously, you’re not upset he went to the wedding without you?”

“Nah. Maybe one day the four of us will be able to hang out and chat, or at least be civil with each other. But, trying to work that shit out before their wedding wasn’t the right time.”

“That’s what you want?”

“I think so. I’m positive that at this point, Coop would pick me over his friendship, but I never want him to feel like he has to choose between us. His friendship with Hayden is important to him; therefore, it’s important to me.”
