“I don’t know, Coop. It’s not just about me and Ford. It’s about Tyler too.”
“I know,” I breathed. “Which is why I think all four of us should sit down and talk. Let’s hash everything out. No more secrets, no more grudges. Just honesty.”
Hayden considered my words for a long moment. Finally, he nodded. “Okay. I’ll talk to Tyler and see if he’s up for it. But no promises, all right?”
“You said that last time,” I reminded him.
“I know, and I did, but he wasn’t ready.”
“It’s been over two years.”
He took a sip of his iced tea. “I think he just never expected to have to see Ford again, let alone be married to the guy who’s friends with the guy he’s dating.”
“The least he can do is hear Ford out. If he still feels that way afterward, I’ll drop it forever.”
“And what will happen between us?”
“I don’t know.” I lifted a shoulder. “I don’t want to give you an ultimatum because I truly feel as though if you hear what Ford has to say, everything will work out.”
“I’ll be honest, I’m tired of having this conversation every time we meet.”
“Me too.”
“I’ll get Tyler on board.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.”
After we ate our lunch,Hayden left to go talk to Tyler. Just as I got back to my place and walked through the door, a text came through from Hayden:
Since you’re going to be busy these next few weeks, I talked Tyler into meeting up for dinner tonight if you’re up for it?
My gaze met Ford’s as he sat on the couch.
“What?” he asked.
“They’re up for dinner tonight to talk.”
Ford sat up straighter. “Really?”
“Yeah. Are you cool with that? I know you wanted to go get some stuff from your place.” I sat next to him on the couch.
“Getting my stuff can wait.”
“Okay. I’ll text him back that we’re in.”
Absolutely. Where?
The dots on the screen danced and stopped, danced and stopped.
We can come to your place if that’s okay?
“They want to come here.”
“Are you okay with that?” Ford asked.
“I am if you are.” Ford would be the one to do all the talking.
