“You’re right. I’ll see you tonight for dinner.”
“Sounds good. Have a great day, sweetheart.”
“You too.”
We hung up and Sean asked, “Ready?”
“Yep.”
The morning sunspilled into the parking garage as I parked the Escalade beside Sean’s Porsche. Stepping out, I glanced over and saw him waiting at the back of his car to walk with me.
“Morning, Declan,” he greeted with a smirk.
“Hey, Sean,” I replied, mirroring his grin. “Ready for another week?”
Sean chuckled. “Always. Race you to the elevator?”
I laughed. “You’re on.”
We both took off, laughing as we raced to the elevator. Once we reached it, I pressed the call button as I said, “Damn. Glad you’re not this fast in the bedroom.”
“Well, well, what do we have here?” a female voice teased.
I turned around quickly, my heart falling out of my chest and I silently prayed she didn’t hear what I’d said. “Hey, Camille. Didn’t know you were here already.”
She sauntered over. “Clearly not. New office romance I should know about?”
I felt my cheeks heat, surprised by her observation. Sean shifted uncomfortably beside me, his usual confidence faltering for a moment.
“Uh, no, it’s nothing like that,” I stammered, trying to regain my composure.
Her eyes narrowed, her gaze flickering between us. “Are you sure about that?”
Sean cleared his throat. “Yeah, Camille.”
“Hmm, well, it certainly seemed like more than that since you mentioned the bedroom.”
I looked at Sean and he nodded slowly and then said, “Fine, you caught us. Declan and I are dating.”
Camille’s eyes widened. “Wait, really?”
I stepped closer to my boyfriend. “Yeah, we are.”
A slow grin spread across her face. “Wow, I had no idea.”
I scratched the back of my head. “Yeah, it’s been a bit of a secret until now.”
“But hey, secrets never last long around here, do they?” Sean winked at the office gossiper.
“This is true.” I smirked at her. “Plus, Camille, we all know you can’t keep a juicy secret to yourself for long.” I winked.
She mock-glared at us. “Hey, I resent that! I can be discreet when I want to be.”
Sean draped an arm around my shoulders, grinning at her. “Sure, sure. We’ll see about that.”
With a playful roll of her eyes, she punched me lightly on the arm. “You two are lucky you’re so damn cute together.”
I chuckled. “Thanks, Camille. And hey, thanks for being cool about it.”
